They Had Help In That, Didn't They, DCI Pasmore...?

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Pasmore, from Essex Police, said: "These men put an innocent family though a living hell and subjected them to violent threats in their own home - a place many of us consider as a place of safety.
"A woman and two children were forced to watch as a loved one had their hands bound by the men and what appeared to be a firearm put to his head.
"Fearing for his own safety and the safety of his family, he managed to challenge Robertson, who died of his injuries sustained during a struggle.
"Two of the victims have been forced to relive the ordeal in court and bravely gave evidence."
Yes, it must have been absolute hell. He must have thanked his lucky stars when the police arriv...

Oh.
Mr Wood was arrested on suspicion of murder but later released.
Yes, despite the witnesses and the clear evidence he was assaulted in his own home by thugs, no reason not to compound it by banging up the real victim, eh?

  2. The police in the UK have a lot of form for arresting and banging up victims of violence who have the audacity to fight back and win! I have no idea why this is when there are witnesses to the crime and who can exonerate the victim. Seems like some form of knee-jerk reaction. Or just jerk reaction really.

So the ssytem works then? Or would have the police take the word of witnesses and what they can see at first glance as gospel? Someone breaks into your house and you end up killing them no matter how obvious and clear cut things appear , even if the crim was a member of that peaceful religion wielding a scimitar and shouting 'Allah akkabar', then the police are duty bound to investigate and that doesn't just mean taking someone's word for it.

And I've been there. When the police arrived I was keeping the guy, someone every copper there knew as a violent drug dealer and 'head case'. You didn't need CSI to tell you what happened. From the broken glass where he had kicked in the door to the bedroom to be able to get to and kill my wife , to the litres of blood everywhere from his forgetting the first rule of a knife fight (ie Don't get in one!). There were witnesses in my favour a plenty but i was still arrested on the spot and spent a night in the cells (it happened late evening so i could only be 'processed't the next morning'. Rightly so.

They don't need to arrest to investigate.
