A woman who had a history of alcohol-fuelled violence towards her family “posed no risk” to her mother whom she later killed, a report found.
Whoops!
...a domestic homicide review has found that while opportunities were missed to assess the risk Barnard posed to her mother, the issues had “no direct impact on the eventual homicide”.
It had a pretty direct impact on the murdered woman! The incompetent hand of Essex's finest is of course all over this one...
...she had a history of alcohol-fuelled violence towards her husband and adult son.
Essex Police attended their home on four separate occasions between 2011 and 2017 and the report found that there were gaps in record which “affected the risk-grading of the incidents in questions”.
One incident involved her threatening her husband with a knife which the panel found “should have been initially graded as high risk”.
Well, yes. But incredibly....
The anonymised report concluded: “From the information reviewed, there is no evidence that [Barnard] posed any risk or threat to [Mrs Sims] and that the incident occurred without warning.”
Their 'thinking' here seems to be 'Well, she never threatened the
mother, just everyone else'...
'Doing it wrong' Well, at least you have one of the cretins from this very 'service, resident on this blog to explain why they were doing it 'rite', JuilaM.
ReplyDeleteAnd to be fair, she doesn't tell you how to cut and paste does she?
Not sure about this one. I'm thinking it comes under 'Crazy People Are Dangerous'. Even if all the paperwork was in order, what do the Usual Suspects wants us to do? Lock up the loonies? They barely want to do that even after the nutters have killed someone.
ReplyDeleteI'm not convinced everyone was ever saved by a properly completed Form 7A2i(b). On the other hand, I am certain that while cops are desperately trying to cover themselves from this kind of Monday morning quarterbacking, they're not out there doing real policing.
"And to be fair, she doesn't tell you how to cut and paste does she?"
ReplyDeleteComing up on 12 years of blogging, I'm an expert!
"Even if all the paperwork was in order, what do the Usual Suspects wants us to do? Lock up the loonies? They barely want to do that even after the nutters have killed someone."
Sadly true.
