As we begin the countdown to say a fond farewell to 2019 and welcome in a new year full of promise, please raise a glass with me to those we have lost:
Captain Ranty (Blog now sadly gone dark)
Unenlightened Commentary
Anna Raccoon
Dracunculus
Bystander, a sad loss to the world of profession-blogging.
Peter Risdon
Gone, but not forgotten.
Most certainly not forgotten, and a glass has been duly raised.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at Anna's archive the other day, prompted by an online spat with an SDS (Savile Derangement Syndrome) sufferer. They are legion of course, and include far too many people who should know better, so I generally grit my teeth and ignore them but can't help myself snapping from time to time. Is The Crucible still on school reading lists (if such a thing even exists anymore)?
Do you still have any contact with Mrs Dracunculus, Julia? Do wish her well if you are. Hope she's ok.
RIP
ReplyDeleteThe Crucible was dropped around 2015 as part of a general move away from American writers. I have seen it in 2017, done by the Keele Drama Society.
ReplyDelete"Do you still have any contact with Mrs Dracunculus, Julia?"
ReplyDeleteI do, she's remained on Twitter. Consider it done!
"The Crucible was dropped around 2015 as part of a general move away from American writers. "
I suspect it wasn't the nationality of the author that was the real driving force behind that decision....
