What is it about the human brain which allows it to see what it expects to see??? . . . . . . . I'm embarrassed to admit that it took me two attempts to spot the misteak. Or it might just be due to a miserable Sunday on the umpteenth week of an illegal lockdown...
The thing about proof reading is that it is much more difficult than you would think. The reason being that our brains correct the errors automatically and so we miss the mistakes. Now that we have technology that does 99% of the work though, I'm not sure that you have much of an excuse.
The tinhg aoubt poorf rnideag is taht it is mcuh mroe dluciffit tahn you wloud tnihk. The rosaen bnieg taht our bniars ccerrot the erorrs allaccitamotuy and so we msis the mekatsis. Now taht we hvae tgolonhcey taht deos 99% of the wrok tguohh, I'm not srue taht you hvae mcuh of an esucxe.

ReplyDeleteIt's simple really, get rid of the human skills and reduce the wages. They call it progress.

Back when I did such stuff, a late colleague advertised, on a freelancing platform, his "poof reading skills".
ReplyDeleteThe fact he was gay makes it even better.
"What is it about the human brain which allows it to see what it expects to see?"
ReplyDeleteIt's a well known phenomenon!
"I'm buliding a shed - where may I obtain materials that will cycle up to my door for free?"
Heh!
"It's simple really, get rid of the human skills and reduce the wages. They call it progress."
I call it something else...
"The thing about proof reading is that it is much more difficult than you would think."
Yes, I know. It used to be part of my job. And taught me how uneducated most of my colleagues were, sadly...
"The fact he was gay makes it even better."
ROFL!
