'Culture'..? Maybe...

...but if so, it's more akin to something you'd find in a petri dish.

The shooting followed a spat between O’Donoghue’s 25-year-old wife Theresa and a 15-year-old girl from the Ward family. Prosecutor Tony Prosser said O’Donoghue encouraged the pair to end their dispute over a fight, as is the tradition of the travelling community.
He said: “As the girl was only 15 it was thought that another member of the Ward family, Roseanne, should take her place.
“However, Roseanne said she wasn’t keen as he (sic) had recently had a baby in caesarean section.
“While Roseanne was shopping in Harold Hill she was confronted by Theresa O’Donoghue.
”The court heard that a fight then broke out between the pair on Lizvale Farm, in Navestock.
O’Donoghue told his wife to “bite and eat” Ms Ward, before he was confronted by the Ward brothers.
O’Donghue left and returned with a pistol before shooting them.

So unlike the home life of our own dear Queen, eh, Reader?

Jailing O’Donoghue for 16-and-a-half years, Judge Andrew Lees said: “Your actions have clearly caused great upset in the community.”

Which 'community', judge?

  1. I know there are many folk out there who couldn't give a hoot about the preservation of Pikey culture. Yet there is merit is supporting these traditions with more effective guns and grant-aided ammunition.

  3. The Romford Recorder refers to him as a Gipsy: there's a lump of editorial staff on their way to political re-education.

  4. Oh bugger. Two travellers shot by another traveller but only wounded. Add the sprog traveller increasing their numbers and one couldn't be blamed for thinking 'what a wasted opportunity'.

  5. Won't it be great when we actually have inter stella travel. There will be an infinite number of inhabitable worlds available so every group of misfits will be able to have their own planet.

The old Romany gypsy culture maybe. The modern 'gypsy'? No. Not in the least.

Good point! As long as they capitalised it, they should be OK, though.

I'm sure we have inhospitable places on this planet. Like, say, Slough.
