I Don't Think There's Any Difference Any More...

Real life:

Jodie Turner-Smith transformed into Anne Boleyn in a first look image at the new drama of the same name, after being cast as the first black actress to play Henry VIII's second wife in a bid to 'challenge conventions'.

Fiction:

The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has spoken out about the show's decision to recast its non-white roles, following allegations of racial stereotyping in recent years.
On Tuesday it was announced the character of Dr. Hibbert, voiced by white actor Harry Shearer, has been replaced by black actor Kevin Michael Richardson

  1. What next? Alan Carr as Don Juan? Warwick Davies as Goliath? Janet Street Porter as Helen of Troy? How about Bobby Davro as Nelson Mandela? I'd certainly pay to see any of them and their artistic interpretations.

  2. "in a bid to 'challenge conventions'."

What convention is being challenged? That Anne Boleyn was in fact white?

    It's not challenging anything, it's re-writing history

  3. I now expect to see the Carry On team do "Roots", a light hearted take on US plantation work, with Bernard Breslaw dressed as a nurse somewhere in there of course) and the Chuckle Brothers as Martin Luther King and Malcolm X "I have a dream, to me, to you " etc

Barbara Windsor as Winnie Mandela (with a bra accident of course) and Sid James as Nelson chuckling away.

  5. I wonder how these people feel when they realise that the didn’t get the part on merit. The audience knows the truth so must they.

  6. Is it possible she may have more cultural experience in avoiding knife crime ? I look forward to a scuffle on Tower Green, and, unless she has an afro, I think Henry could get a divorce on the grounds of cultural appropriation of western hairstyles

  7. This is what "woke" is reduced to to in its increasingly desperate and frantic attempts to goad white people into some sort of response which can then be used to justify its existence.

Who is going to actually watch this unutterable shite?

    🤣

"What convention is being challenged? That Anne Boleyn was in fact white?"

When they say 'challenge conventions' what they really mean is 'rub whitey's nose in our new found power'..

"I now expect to see the Carry On team do "Roots"..."

I'd pay good money to see that!

"I wonder how these people feel when they realise that the didn’t get the part on merit."

Probably as if they deserve it. I doubt introspection is very common amongst luvvies, of any hue.

"... its increasingly desperate and frantic attempts to goad white people into some sort of response ..."

Yes, that's what they want. Mere outrage isn't enough any more.
