"Let Them Eat Tofu!"

Campaigners want Brighton and Hove City Council to ensure children have at least two plant-based days a week in a bid to tackle climate change.

What are they going to do, stand over them and force them to eat it? What is it, anyway?

Plant-based dishes include breakfast tofu scramble, cauliflower rice bowl with black beans and zucchini chips, according to everydayhealth.com.

Oh, yeah, they'll just wolf that down...

A petition to the council calling for the scheme was created by Alison Plaumer and has now been signed by...

Ah, some meat in this story at last!

...21 people.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Oh, well, it doesn't end until the 13th June, let's see if they can get into treble figures.

The petition reads: “We also request that all council run events be plant based, post pandemic, plus any other council run establishments, for example day centres, in order to reduce food emissions.”

Yeah, I can see that happening. There's things even Brightonians won't swallow...

  1. A plant-based diet might actually increase emissions...

  2. I would not mind all vegetarians having a few plant based days a week ie. in the woods without broadband

  3. I trust the council canteen (and senior official's dining room) have thrown out all meat products and only have plant based menus? Thought not.

  4. It could turn out interesting since chocolate is derived from a tree and as it says on the roll of paper towels I have 'Chocolate comes from Cocoa, which is a tree. That makes it a plant - Chocolate is a Salad.'

Said very tongue in cheek to show just how stupid these people are.

  6. I bet the sale of masks goes up on those days...

A good chum used to enjoy telling me about a game of 'Chinese Ovens', when five blokes go out for a very large, hot, smelly curry, have eight pints of Guinness, then drive thirty miles home with the heating full on and the car windows closed all the way!

    Baked beans and quorn, anyone?

  7. I am almost vegetarian as I only eat animals that eat vegetables, but the wife worryingly tells me that out east they have a saying:

"a dog is notjust for Xmas, you can have it cold on Boxing day too"

  8. I think that we need a petition that says 'Every time someone dreams up on of these schemes that the council have to follow it for six months before it is rolled out to the public'

Can you see the council doing this internally?

Surely this must count as cruel and unusual punishment.

Yes, guaranteed to encourage WFH in your colleagues!

"...ie. in the woods without broadband"

Let's wait until they rewild, though. With bears.

    There should be an audit!

"I am almost vegetarian as I only eat animals that eat vegetables..."

    Heh!

"I think that we need a petition that says 'Every time someone dreams up on of these schemes that the council have to follow it for six months before it is rolled out to the public'..."

    That's a brilliant idea!
