I Can Explain, Signor Ortelli...

Sergio Ortelli, the mayor of Giglio, said “This is a legitimate project. I don’t get why there is all this pantomime,” he said.
“The animals are not indigenous to Giglio and they can be legally hunted, like wild boar.”

It's because they aren't animal lovers at all, they are people haters. We have them here, too, sadly.

And this is a good example of the level of intelligence they possess:

Just who does he think is scenting, then? The horse? The riders...?

  1. Teh Grauniad article mentions LAV, the Italian anti vivisection group. This group have threatened legal action unless the cull is not stopped. They want the animals relocated to a reserve. Now, here's a suggestion, why bleat when they can stump up some dosh to pay for the relocation? You're right Julia, they don't care for the animals at all, if they did they would get their hands dirty actually doing something. The problem d that if they solved the 'problem' there would be nothing to blest about.

It's about bending others to their will. The animals are just an excuse.
