"...it's 'not something that I feel I have to speak about publicly'..."

Goodness me! Has Lewis Hamilton finally run out of things to pontificate about?

The world Formula One champion has disowned his team Mercedes' sponsorship deal with Kingspan, which made combustible insulation for the tower block – but the firm's logo was still emblazoned on his car during the race.
Hamilton initially refused to answer questions on the matter at a press conference ahead of the race in Jeddah saying it was 'not something that I feel I have to speak about publicly'.

But for once, the journalists did their job:

But when pushed he said: 'It was news to me when I heard this week.
'We know there has been a huge outcry and an amazing amount of support by people in the community.
'It is really nothing to do with me and I know Toto (Wolff, the team principal) is sorting it. Unfortunately my name is associated with it because it has been on my car, but whether that remains the same, we will see.'

Now, personally, I couldn't care less. It's another case of cancel culture, that I should be hoping fails. But isn't it nice to see Hamilton squirm, for once?

  1. Perhaps MB could coat their cars with the same cladding used on Greenfell Towers. Should make any car crashes interesting.I

  2. There was nothing wrong with the cladding. It was inappropriate for use in this instance and installed incorrectly. Kingspan aren't to blame, the contractor and overseeing council engineers are.

  3. Didn't Mercedes build the armoured limousines so beloved of those nasty naazies? Shouldn't some left-leaning wokester be highlighting that? Missing a trick there, surely . . .

  5. @The Jannie - quite right, and every time I see TV ads aimed at Millenials and assorted trendies on behalf of Hugo Boss, I can't help remembering those dashing uniforms they designed for the SS during the time when Hugo Boss were designers & tailors to the Third Reich.

  6. These hypocrites think that their opinions matter. I hope Kingspan have a strong long contract with Mercedes and they leverage Hamilton in their ads as much as they can.

    😂🤣

"Kingspan aren't to blame, the contractor and overseeing council engineers are."

Well, we can't expect moral courage from our political and spiritual leaders, so it's pointless expecting it from racing car teams. They've terminated their contract.

"Didn't Mercedes build the armoured limousines so beloved of those nasty naazies? "

    Indeed so!

"But he will race in Saudi Arabia."

Of course! Money shouts louder than he ever will...

Got to credit them for being the sharpest dressers in WWII. And when you're fighting the Italians, that's no mean feat!

"I hope Kingspan have a strong long contract with Mercedes..."

    Apparently not strong enough!
