Like...Driving, Zoe?

Zoe Williams is ideologically opposed to, of all things, services like Ocado and Getir:
It’s not the money that bugs me, just the underlying Marxist truism – that if some of us refuse to do any of our own menial tasks, others will end up doing all menial tasks for everyone. Plus, we live next door to a supermarket and I’m not even exaggerating, except by a small amount.

It must be fun in her household, eh?

Anyway, we have this argument at least twice a day, so it was only a matter of time before we would have it in a cab and I would want to bring the driver into it.

You aren't too worried about distracting him from his 'menial task', then?

  1. Marxist truism, that is a bit of an oxymoron. I don't think that Marx was ever right once about anything. If I want to pay someone to do something that I don't want to do for myself it is nobody's business but that of me, that person and possibly the taxman. I'm using my money to free up some of my time and someone gets a livelihood out of it. Surely only someone who was a bit mental would see this as a problem. Or maybe someone who was wrong about everything like Karl Marx.

  2. It could only be the grauniad. Just work out, though: she's bored and thinks up this shit, types it then sends it. The subs detail it, the editor OKs it, printers with grubby hands print it, delivery specialists with more grubby hands distribute it and then some silly sod buys it. All those missed opportunities to bin it . . .

  3. A not at all surprising pile of steaming cack from Ms Williams. If there's one thing that she can be guaranteed to serve up it is stuff like this.

She's been like this for years and so awful that I wondered back in 2015 whether she'd had some form of political lobotomy to be able to say some of the stuff that she does. https://www.fahrenheit211.net/2015/11/02/has-the-guardians-zoe-williams-had-a-political-lobotomy/

Ms Williams writing always looks as if it is written without any filter and without any consideration as to how it will play outside of her own limited bubble of like minded (or like non-minded as the case may be) friends and family.

  4. She's all about the dignity of the working man... as long as he votes the way she wants. Otherwise, he can got to Hell. Hence how the North went from the poor but proud proles of 'Brassed Off' to a wasteland with 'Here Be Monsters' on the map at the drop of a Referendum.

Well, if you pay in cash... πŸ˜‰

"All those missed opportunities to bin it . . ."

    Quite!

Maybe when you join the 'Guardian', there's some special course they send you on? Owen and George seem to have done it more than once, if so...

    Spot on!

"There are no truisms in Marx. It's all shit."

Because it's never been real Marxism, I suspect? 😁
