Police took three days to find the missing body of an 85-year-old man in his car...
Yeah, Police Scotland does have a reputation for this, after all.
...that had automatically called 999 when he crashed.
Wait, what? You couldn't make it up, could you?
Can I suggest a Polis get-out?
ReplyDeleteIf the car ended up off the road, then obviously it is not the responsibility of the Highlands and Islands Road Policing Unit, HAIRPU.
The relevant officers were probably at a diversity training course which in today's police forces appears to take priority over actual police work.
ReplyDelete'The relevant officers were probably at a diversity training course..'
ReplyDeleteNah...without additional financial incentives for attendees, a training course is too much like work for the chronic stay-at-home malingerers.
"Called 999"
ReplyDeleteHave you actually tried it recently?
I can't speak to nationally, but my personal experience is that after waiting some few minutes I finally got to spend ten minutes pressing pressing additional 'option' keys ("If you would like to hear the emergency service options in Urdu, with Gujarati subtitles - in a racially sensitive mauve tint, press option #2674").
I 'did' eventually get through to a well-spoken lady who 'patiently' informed me I "needed to call 101" as "being assaulted, though not just right at that moment - since I was too busy lying on the floor bleeding, was not an emergency".
So? I suspect the poor automatic call was stuck somewhere between option #1 "Has someone said something you don't like on Twatter?", to option #3724 "Are you currently bleeding to death?". I'd say three days was about right, even for a person wading through the farcical system.

ReplyDeleteWell, quite!

Good grief, does nothing work anymore?
Dial 999? What's the point of that? Should have got tweeted a transphobic slur. Far more effective in getting plod's attention.
