An 11-year-old girl has been left with life-changing injuries after she was attacked by a dog before being rescued by passers-by.
Dramatic images captured from a video which was shot at the scene in East London yesterday, shows a taxi driver jumping out of his car with a bat to rescue the girl.
The early morning attack happened on Johnson Road, Tower Hamlets, yesterday, at around 8.30am.
And that fact is:
where's the beast now?
A Met Police spokesman told The Sun: 'Police were called at 08:31hrs to Ben Johnson Road, E1 after an 11-year-old girl was attacked by a dog.
'A member of the public intervened to free the victim.
'The owner of the dog left the scene prior to police arrival.
'The girl was taken to hospital for treatment to her hand - her condition is not life-threatening but may be life changing.
'No arrests at this time. Enquiries are ongoing.'
It's not encouraging that the police don't tell us it's safely in kennels or a vet's freezer, is it?
Did they say anything about arresting the guy for having a bat?
ReplyDeleteThey're more likely to pursue the taxi-driver for carrying an offensive weapon.
ReplyDeleteSeveral things that have come from America turn me off:
ReplyDeleteHalloween with its "trick or treat" extortion,
Roast Turkey for Christmas (one pub chain even refers to "Traditional Roast Turkey" on its Christmas menu!)
Twatter,
Facebook - unfortunately this has become the lazy business' default webpage,
and lastly:
"At this time" when they really mean "so far" or "as far as we can be bothered".
It is significant that a taxi driver has to keep a "bat" in his vehicle.
ReplyDeletePresumably not a table tennis one, or even a "scary" Halloween prop.
Why was he not arrested for having a weapon?
So our Police Service are not a total loss after all.
... not life-threatening but may be life changing ...
ReplyDeleteAbout 15 years ago Beloved Nephew had a car accident on the A10. Two police officers turned up at his then girlfriend's place of work to tell her he'd suffered 'life-changing' injuries. We rushed to the hospital to find him a bit shaken but without so much as a scratch and brought him straight home. Is there a single damn thing the police get right?
"Did they say anything about arresting the guy for having a bat?"
ReplyDeleteHow policing has changed, that that's so many people's first take?
"Several things that have come from America turn me off:"
Only several? My list runs to HUNDREDS!
"It is significant that a taxi driver has to keep a "bat" in his vehicle."
He might be really keen on baseball? Thet girl must be glad he was an ardent follower of the US version of rounders, though...
"Is there a single damn thing the police get right?"
I'm tempted to say 'a good job rarely makes headlines' but...
