Dartford Bridge will stay closed during rush hour this morning, police say, more than 24 hours after two eco-zealots ascended two 275ft masts and dangled over the M25. No officers have been sent to get them down due to 'safety' concerns.
Why do they need to, just pick them off. It's what should always be done with terrorists...
Furious drivers have blasted the police's response, saying they were 'playing into the hands' of eco activists by shutting the bridge - with Just Stop Oil claiming the bridge will be shut for 'at least 24 hours'.
When is the government going to get a gr...
Oh. Right. I forgot. We don't have a government, do we?
We don't have a Government, but we should still have a police force. And we certainly would see a robust police response if members of the public tried to get them down, or just tried to drive accross the bridge
ReplyDeleteCan anyone remember the date we descended into farce?
"We don't have a government, do we?" True(ish) but we do have a Home Secretary, a Mayor of London and a Met Police chief, all in office. Yes, the Supreme Court has partially stymied the discretion of the police but there was no need - apart from a specious concern for motorists' safety - to close the crossing.
ReplyDeleteThe longer this nonsense continues I can't but believe there is some unofficial - or even official - agreement with the loonies (by the authorities and/or the loonies' friends in the Blob) to sanction the continuation of these demos. After all it appears that Hunt, and Truss by implication, have ruled out any change in the "net zero" nonsense. The lunatics have not just taken over the asylum, they're building another asylum to park the sane.
I doubt the eco terrorists are at the level of islamic terrorists. So they won't be wanting to commit suicide in the name of the planet. Yet. They got up there safely, they're staying there safely, and they've probably planned on coming down safely. So leave them there and open the bridge.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a government, at least not the government which we want. This election, albeit among party members only, did not go the way it was supposed to. So, as with the Brexit vote, it will be reversed as soon as an opportunity can be contrived. Having said that I don't particularly want any of the usual suspects getting their hands close to the levers of power. There isn't one, not a single one who inspires confidence.
ReplyDeleteas this bridge will have been closed to traffic for over two days, I trust the costs involved to everyone inconvenienced will be extracted from these scumbags, civil actions anyone? At least you would expect it to load the sentences as with the greaat train robbers! 30 years anybody?
ReplyDeleteSpread out tarps (or spikes, your choice) below them, so the traffic may proceed safely without the risk of a cretin falling on them.
ReplyDeleteHow about, if the police can't/wont do their jobs then just ... bugger off and let 'the people' administer 'justice' (the only real reason the police exist is to prevent this after all. I've always been a bit bemused by the average persons notion that the police were ever on "our side. They are, and have always been, there to protect the criminals. Period. Dot. It's just that this obvious fact has been a little more blatantly obvious for the last couple of years is all). A few salutary beatings, maybe a few run over, and it will 'amazingly' just stop happening I'd guess.
ReplyDeleteOh, and since mummy and daddy are supporting their precious activists, maybe charging them for all the lost earnings (and lives) their little darlings cause, would lead to them re-evaluating their trust-funds?
"...but we should still have a police force."
ReplyDeleteWe have something that calls itself that, yes...
"...but there was no need - apart from a specious concern for motorists' safety - to close the crossing."
It's the standard response which they don't seem to realise - or maybe care - is playing right into these eco-terrorists' hands.
"So leave them there and open the bridge."
Too many risk averse senior officers in the farce. They'd rather a hundred ambulances didn't reach dying patients than someone slips and falls.
"There isn't one, not a single one who inspires confidence."
I would have said Kemi Badenoch. Until yesterday...
"...I trust the costs involved to everyone inconvenienced will be extracted from these scumbags, civil actions anyone?"
It'll never happen. But it should.
"...then just ... bugger off and let 'the people' administer 'justice' ..."
The more this continues, the likelier that gets.
