Asylum seekers billeted at a former military base in new Home Secretary James Cleverly's constituency held a protest yesterday over the 'prison-like' conditions.
About 40 men demonstrated outside MDP Wethersfield in Essex, complaining they didn't have access to doctors, were freezing due to poor clothing and bedding and were unable to contact their families.Ooh, I have just the thing somewhere...now, where did I put it? Aha! Here it is:
Ah, I'm glad my recent PC issues didn't affect you, old friend...
The Home Office said it provided on-site healthcare, meals and exercise facilities, while asylum seekers were also permitted to go outside the base. A spokesman added: 'The welfare of individuals at the site is of the utmost priority.'Not for me, it isn't.
Poor clothing?
ReplyDeleteHmm. Locally they are closing the two (5* hotels) "shelters" for these "immigrants" and a local (get rich quick scheme) "charity" has been begging for free suitcases for the poor dears to carry all their tax-payer funded loot to their new (5*) accommodations - "good condition, extra large only please"?! [Now consider, since these are temporary accommodations for a number of weeks only, just how much money is being thrown at these 'people' for them to acquire more than two large suitcases of clothes in that time - for someone, working, who hasn't bought any new clothes in years (and getting a dab hand at darning and sewing), and watches pensioner neighbours wearing eight layers and huddling round candles because they can't afford the heating bill this ... grates a little!].
It must be so hard escaping all that tyranny (in your designer gear and with your iPhone) only to be forced to shop (at 'our' expense) for suitcases full of more designer gear, only to realise that what 'you' bought (to pose in when you go back home on holiday, again paid for by 'us') isn't appropriate for a British winter.
My heart bleeds, it really does.
[Does the fact that I am praying hard for a good old-fashioned 81-82 winter, if not a little-ice-age one, to get rid of the parasites, make me a bad person?]
If it was good enough for our Armed Forces, then it is more than adequate for illegal entrants to this Country. Not a single "undocumented immigrant" is anything but a criminal and if the accommodation "looks like a prison" where do they put criminals in their countries of origin? I would place good money on no four star hotels being involved!
ReplyDeletePerhaps they should leave for Rwanda now. I'm sure the Rwandans will provide them with all they want.
ReplyDeleteWell, James Cleverly won't need to worry his little head about the issue this time next year, because Starmer, Abbott and Ange will be sitting on the fences surrounding the buildings, rather like they'll be doing between No 10 and No 11 Downing Street.
ReplyDeleteWar-torn France must be a hell-hole for all those illegals, so being shoved into a barrack block, which used to be used for real military personnel is quite apt in my estimation!
I hear Rwanda is quite nice at this time of year, so they can all bugger off there as far as I'm concerned!
"...how much money is being thrown at these 'people' for them to acquire more than two large suitcases of clothes in that time..."
ReplyDeleteAnd who is it doing the throwing? Not those who'd rather the money was spent on genuine need, I'll be bound.
"Does the fact that I am praying hard for a good old-fashioned 81-82 winter, if not a little-ice-age one, to get rid of the parasites, make me a bad person?"
Not at all, I'm praying for bad weather in the channel as it's the only truly effective means of keeping them out!
"If it was good enough for our Armed Forces, then it is more than adequate for illegal entrants to this Country."
Good point!
"Perhaps they should leave for Rwanda now. I'm sure the Rwandans will provide them with all they want."
It's warmer there too, they won't need so many clothes!

Quite!
