"Nah, mate, I's a slave, innit?"
Almost half of the victims of criminal exploitation in the UK are British boys aged under 18, according to a report calling for new laws to acknowledge them as victims of modern slavery.

The analysis, by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) thinktank and the charity Justice and Care...
Ah. Of course.
...found that criminal exploitation is the most common type of modern slavery occurring in the UK in the past four years. The analysis found that about two-thirds were British and mostly teenagers and vulnerable adults who are “forced, coerced or groomed into committing crime for someone else’s benefit”.
Well, it couldn't possibly be for their own benefit? What's up, the old excuses stopped working so you're looking for new ones?
“Professionals, families and victims themselves frequently do not apply the label of ‘modern slavery’ (nor even exploitation in some cases) to what is happening,” the analysis concludes.
They will now. Or their brief will.
The age of criminal resposibility is supposed to be 10. So they want to raise it to 18 and also pack in any adult classed as 'vulnerable', which these days could be anyone.
ReplyDeleteThis must be the final hurdle to making criminals the real victims.
I'm reminded of the line in the Dead Bishop on the Landing sketch.
ReplyDeleteSociety's to blame.
That's alright sir, we'll be nicking them soon.
"British boys"?
ReplyDeleteI wonder just how "British" they are, or does that make me a raciss again?
And 'that' there is the real reason for such 'mental gymnastics' (twisting of logic and language to the point it almost snaps), to further privilege and excuse any, and all actions by the 'favoured' demographics (come on, you just 'know' if it was a bunch of white, Christian boys the language would be ... 'very' different - there'd be lots of "colonizing" and "white privilege" statements at the very least).
"Almost half of the victims of criminal exploitation in the UK are British boys aged under 18"
ReplyDeleteWell, yes, this is the UK, and a substantial proportion of boys under 18 are, as one might expect, British. As are girls under 18, men 18 and over, and women 18 and over. This is because most people in the UK are British.
Mind you, when they say "British", I do wonder what flavour of British? The report is a little quiet on that detail. Knowing might stop potentially wasting resources on checking the offspring of white middle class Methodists (purely a random example) to ensure they are not being subjected to modern slavery, and enable the focusing of attention on those most likely to need it.
Poor little sods.
ReplyDeleteWhen TPTB describe these 'victim's as British, are they referring to British families, or the offspring of various races, religions, and creeds, who have been given British nationality after emigrating here, or being granted asylum?
ReplyDeleteIn the particular part of this gifted Isle in which I reside, the British youths causing trouble are mainly of the RoP, possibly following their culture's guidelines of behaviour. To chastise them, or complain about their criminal actions, tends to mark you out as an enemy of diversity. However, the number of youths who speak with an Eastern European (Ukranian?) accent now seems to be proliferating.
To paraphrase the old saying, "You can take the youth out of shitholistan, but you can't always take shitholistan out of the youth".I

Most of them are volunteers. Ones that get caught are "exploited"

They couldn't find enough actual slaves to justify themselves so they just extended the definition to include some other people as well.
ReplyDelete"This must be the final hurdle to making criminals the real victims."
ReplyDeleteThey're already nearly there in the 'Guardian'...
"I wonder just how "British" they are, or does that make me a raciss again?"
No, I thought exactly the same thing...
"Knowing might stop potentially wasting resources on checking the offspring of white middle class Methodists..."
What, and fail to thereby massage the statistics?
"To paraphrase the old saying, "You can take the youth out of shitholistan, but you can't always take shitholistan out of the youth"."
Spot on!
"They couldn't find enough actual slaves to justify themselves..."
They weren't looking in the right places then
