They're Not Lovin' It...

Fifth? How many does a small town need...?
McDonald’s initially wanted to open the new restaurant 24/7 but it withdrew an application for the opening hours following objections from residents, who raised concerns about antisocial behaviour, noise and traffic.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s said it had ‘listened to residents’ concerns’. It withdrew the application on September 4, meaning the new branch will not be allowed to open overnight or serve food between 11pm and 5am.

That's as close to 24/7 as probably makes no difference to neighbours...

  1. According to Google, Baisingstoke has 30k more people than our 'town'. We have four McDonalds restaurants that I can think of.
One in a shopping centre, one in a retail park, one on a motorway roundabout and the other on a mororwar services.
Do McDonalds actually build restaurants near 'residents'? According to the article, the proposed one is on a retail park and the rest are in similar areas.
Methinks the so called residents, might just be complaining because they look down their noses at McDonalds and people who go there

  3. Presumably McDonalds have a reasonable take on how many restaurants a particular town can support. I doubt that they go around randomly building new outlets and then closing them within weeks through a lack of punters.
    Stonyground.

The local drive-in I use is just across the road from and very close to recently-built flats.

They wouldn't build it if they weren't certain of profit.
