Another Choirboy, I Presume..?

A 15-year-old boy has been accused of attacking a female teacher with a kitchen knife after asking for help with work, a court heard. A schoolboy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly launched the assault on the teacher at Milford Haven Comprehensive School on Thursday afternoon.

And if the court refuses MSM applications to name him after conviction, we'll never know..

He was charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, and possession of a bladed article on education premises. He was remanded into youth detention over the weekend and will appear at Swansea Crown Court on February 9.

What the hell is going on in our schools? And our country?

    1. Yes, and at this point, I’m beginning to think it’s beyond fixing…

  2. If your question wasn’t rhetorical, for a start…
    - The feminisation of education - not just recruitment favouring female teachers but general behavioural expectations and requirements for staff to ‘nurture’ and avoid ‘undermining learners’ self-esteem’.

    - The drastic reduction in available sanctions and disciplinary practices (as seen in your post last Thursday).

    - An increase in parents condoning (or even encouraging) misbehaviour in school on the part of their children rather than upholding the school rules (this one has been going on a long time; my first day in the classroom nearly four decades ago was as a replacement for a (female) teacher who had been punched in the face by an irate father).

    - Poor parenting in general and a decline in the value placed on education to the point where many parents regard teachers as glorified childminders (see also “My taxes pay your wages” and - a genuine quote; one of my favourites - “He doesn’t have to learn things; it’s your job to teach them to him”.)

    - The internet and all its attendant vileness; adolescents en masse have always been obnoxious so any artificial amplification is disastrous when the adults around them abdicate moral responsibility.

(Sorry - all this really hits a nerve!)

    1. All sadly too true, Machesth, and rowing all this back is becoming an impossible task for any party.
