The quetion isn't what would they do, it's what would they be and the answer's that they wouldn't be Starmer. And for a lot of people, although they may dress it up for quotes, that's enough. It certainly is for me. Principally, it's punishment. For Southport, the Chagos Islands, Two Tier policing, etc.

It doesn't matter who the Labour Government gives the job to, there is nothing they can do that will make their situation any better. There is no more money. No one will lend them money at manageable rates. Cutting welfare loses them votes. Tackling islamism loses them votes. Producing more coal, oil and gas loses them votes. Deporting benefit claiming immigrants loses them votes. Increasing tax rates even further loses them tax take and votes. Cutting capital expenditure shrinks the economy and loses them votes. They will hang on to the very bitter end to fill their pockets and pensions before we kick them out.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is not the person at the top of the Labour Party, it's the attitude of the people right through the middle, like a left-wing stick of rock. When the results of the recent elections were finally clear, Starmer's attitude (I refuse to refer to him as "Sir") was not to even try and placate the public at large, heaven forbid! Instead his immediate response was to try and placate his backbenchers by lurching even further to the left.
