A man who was killed on the M56 after being chased by police on a motorbike had been "turning his life around" after finally finding "a purpose" through his daughter, his family said. Cody Lowndes, 27, was stopped by officers after being spotted driving in a "dangerous manner" on the M60, around Stockport Pyramid, at about 19:30 BST on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said. The force said he left the bike and ran off across the motorway and was struck by another vehicle and died at the scene.
At least no innocent people were harmed in the making of this karmic incident.
His family said they were "heartbroken" that their "best friend" had died, and his daughter would never know the "real Cody" that they "all knew and loved".
Peobably the best thing that could happen to her…
The tribute added: "We will always love Cody, and he will live on in our hearts and memories. Please let us mourn Cody in peace, as a family.
"As a family we are heartbroken that our best friend Cody has passed away."
He did ‘pass away’ , he FA and FO!
Greater Manchester Police said it had referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which decided an independent investigation was required.
Why? Its hardly their fault he had a room temperature IQ, is it?

DeleteRunning from the police on a motorway is not how I would describe somebody turning their life around
ReplyDelete'Cody.' Of course it was...
ReplyDeleteOh, great. Now the phrase "turning his life around" has jumped the pond. It's amazing how many people die suddenly, usually violently, just as they're turning their lives around. It's almost as if it's a lie. But if lying to yourself helps you cope with your loss, rather than dealing with reality, don't expect everyone else to participate.
ReplyDeleteHe'd have been far better off had he "turned his bike around" plus he'd have kept his life.
DeleteDarwin wins again.
Terrible grammar, Mr Journalist. You give the impression that the police were riding the motorbike.
ReplyDeleteAnd today's outstanding candidate for that posthumous Darwin Award, goes to, JAFI Just Another Fucking Idiot, who "turned his life around" into death and in doing so deepened the gene pool slightly.
ReplyDeleteYou can probably tell that I'm not in "sympathy mode" today.
We don't know how dangerous the manner in which he was riding was. There is a possibility that the police would have just given him a bollocking and let him go. If it was his own bike and it wasn't stolen, then they would have been able to track him down using the registration so running away would be pointless. Definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
