Hyperbole Alert…

As the mainstream anti-abortion movement attempts to distance itself from its most extreme supporters following the shooting of Dr George Tiller in Kansas, attention is again focusing on its role in creating a climate in which the killers come to believe they murder for the good of society.
Huh…?

How come that the Left is currently whining about a ‘climate of fear’ on this, when previous attempts by others to point out that aggressive rap music isn’t exactly fostering a climate of tolerance and resolving issues through dialogue gets pooh-poohed as ‘racist’ and ‘culturally ignorant’?

And how come no-one wants to talk about 'root causes' or claim that this is one deranged man and therefore not representative of his religion (if he does turn out to be doing this from a religious standpoint)?

It’s almost like they are making the rules up as they go along, isn’t it?

And their definition of ‘extreme’ doesn’t stand up to scrutiny either:
Some have been linked to the Lambs of Christ and the Army of God, Christian groups which advocate violence. But even mainstream organisations, such as Operation Save America, have resorted to extreme tactics including distributing "wanted" posters for a doctor who was later murdered.
Oh, noes! A poster! How extreme!

And we must keep the language civil, at all costs:
All of this takes place against a backdrop of vilification on mainstream television and radio that helps make doctors such as Tiller a target. The popular Fox News talk show host, Bill O'Reilly, regularly called him "Tiller the Killer" and described his clinic as a "death-mill".
Technically, he isn’t wrong, though. Is he…?

But then, the 'Guardian' doesn't want to look at the service this particular doctor offered too hard. And when you do, you can see why...

  1. Yea, yea, murder bad. But does anybody feel the slightest bit of sorrow over this particular late term abortion? Not me.

  2. Tricky one. Am I sorry about it? Yeah, kind of, though muted by the fact that I don't know the guy and can't be arsed to fake a feeling of regret any more than I could for Princess Di or Jade Goody. They're all dead and I'm sure it's sad for their nearest and dearest, but they'd survived they wouldn't give a rip if I carked it in front of the computer right now. I don't feel any different because their deaths are newsworthy than if they'd passed away quietly in obscurity.

Okay, that's got the issue of faux sympathy out of the way, I think his murder is appalling. Like many childless couple the missus and I could never entertain the idea of an abortion, and since we'd adopt kids in a nanosecond (though naturally the PC cunts who run adoption services would sooner eat the children than let eviiiiill libertarian types like us mould the little things into becoming self-confident and responsible adults) we wish that many more women chose to offer their unwanted kids up for adoption than terminated their pregnancies. But that's just a wish and one that we can't impose on pregnant women without taking away their ownership of their bodies. When religions and governments prohibit abortions they are saying that they own women's reproductive systems rather than the women themselves. I'd say that's just as evil and immoral as terminating pregnancies in the first place. The religious maniacs who think murder and destruction is okay when directed at abortion doctors and clinics are no better than eco-terrorists who do it "for the planet", or ALF nutjobs who do it "to save animals".

Personally I think the whole religious belief thing makes one out to be a borderline fruitcake anyway, but can't they see that by committing murder they're simply becoming exactly what they profess to hate? I don't much like the abortionists and don't have much time for their clients but I utterly despise the religion driven nutters who kill over it.

  3. OT but what the heck. Someone’s decided to him play the Joker in a spectacularly unsubtle way:

'Mr Flowers is a racist. I believe he is a racist and he knows he is a racist. I don't feel good telling you that we have had to endure a campaign of racism.'

Well, m’dear, it actually sounds as if that’s precisely what you love telling us. I can’t imagine why.

Theodore Dalrymple recently posted rather well on this in City Journal.

  4. Isn't this the rag whose environment correspondent, Monbiot, called for the murder or airline executives? Spectacular hypocrisy.

The Yorkshire case is interesting - in the absences of any real actual evidence it is one side's word against the other. My bet is that the sainted minority candidates will win, hands down.

  5. "Yea, yea, murder bad."

A lot of people have felt the need to preface their comments or posts with this statement, because they can see the leftwingers and pro-abortionists pouncing on it in gleeful delight.

Me, I figure it goes without saying...

The other doctor-murderers are all in jail for life or awaiting execution, so to jump to the conclusion that there's a 'climate of encouragement' is frankly absurd. Won't stop them, though.

Indeed. And yet, one draws so much more condemnation from one side than the other. Odd. Very odd...

"Isn't this the rag whose environment correspondent, Monbiot, called for the murder or airline executives?"

That's the one. The ever-classy 'Gruaniad'

Neighbour disputes were always messy, even before 'race crime', 'hate crime' and 'homophobia' legislation hit the statute books.

Now they have these in their arsenal too, the only ones who win are the lawyers!
