"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women*. "

* - those left in the Cabinet, that is...

Today's the day for local and European elections. Some might say that Labour are already in meltdown, so what's to be gained by giving them a good kicking in the polls.

What, indeed? Well, there's the fact that if you don't vote, you change nothing. You let others control the agenda, and squander your chance to take part in democracy. This hated government is down, and wounded, it's true.

Wounded isn't good enough. If you have a vote, use it.

And clicking on the sidebar icon on the right will take you straight to Iain Dale's round up of results as they happen throughout the day.

Happy voting, all!

  1. We do not get to vote until Sunday.

Now as far as I can see, this goes against the whole democratic principal. HOW can you heve half the population voting, when they already know the results of the OTHER half?

This means that the votes on Sunday, from Germany, and other Sunday voting countries, owe nothing to personal choice or belief, but EVERYTHING to "tactical voting".

And if one "group" look likle they are unbeatable after today, why the Hel should we bother on Sunday?

    THIS needs sorting out.

  2. "We do not get to vote until Sunday."

Yes, I was reading about this in the paper this morning. I guess the EU is really, really keen on tactical voting. I can't see any other reason to do this...

  3. It was all to do with the "Holy Roman Empire".

In Wiking/Sachsen times it was traditional to hold Parliament (the Thing) on Thursdays. Hence the markets became traditional on Thursday as well, as they followed the crowd. This stayed the reason in Britain, Holland and Scandinavia, as all that were entitled to vote were GARUNTEED to be "in town on the day" and therefore had no excuse.

In the areas where the middle Eastern invaders had ursurped our culture and heritage, the "gathering of the week" was Sunday.

Therefore in "catholic areas" the voting is on Sunday. In areas that stick to North European, and not middle Eastern invader "cultural "traditions"", it is Thursday.
