Carrying Through On A Threat…

Leader of Greenwich Council Councillor Chris Roberts said: "In accordance with policy, the council has commenced the first step and issued a notice to seek possession against an individual tenant who pleaded guilty to offences committed on the evening of August 8.

“The individual concerned is now serving a custodial sentence and the property is therefore unoccupied.

"If the courts awarded possession of this property, it will then become available for letting to one of the 12,000 applicants presently on the council's waiting list.”
One to watch indeed…

  1. Where committing a criminal act is in breach of a legally binding tenancy agreement I can't see the problem.

I do see lots of people carefully checking what their own agreements...more often than not simply blithely signed...actually say though.

Wouldn't it be nice if "responsibility" actually did cut both ways.

  2. I'll bet more than a few council tenants are having "sixpence, half-a-crown, dustbin-lid" moments this evening ..

It would, but sadly there's a whole army of 'support workers' for the underclass lifestyle prepared to cushion that.

    Still not enough, though.
