A gang of youths punched and kicked a ‘vulnerable’ man in a Blackburn park before stealing his bike.‘Youths’, ‘youths’, ‘youths’, won’t someone give us a descrip…
The 36-year-old victim was cycling through Witton Park when he was pushed to the ground and attacked by the gang.
The man, who has learning difficulties and has been described as vulnerable, was stopped by the youths as he tried to cross a footbridge at around 5.20pm on Sunday.
Ah!
Police said the group of between six and nine Asian youths dragged the victim from his bike by his jacket before punching and kicking him while he was on the ground in the Preston Old Road park.I’m guessing they aren’t Chinese. It’ll be interesting to see the rules of Victimhood Poker deal with this one, won’t it?
Detective Sergeant Rob Anderson from Blackburn CID urged people to be vigilant while walking through the park. So, there’s no need to be worried about actual assaults here, but the police feel free to frighten the bejeesus out of shoppers elsewhere with what might happen?
He said: “It is always a concern for us when people are victimised in public parks and this man has been left extremely upset and shaken by this incident.
"But we would like to reassure the public that there is hardly any crime in Witton Park and we will ensure that we work hard to ensure that no patterns develop in the area.
“Although there is no need for the public to be afraid, we would urge them to be extra vigilant whilst walking through the park with valuable items in their possession.”
"Asian" youths eh ?
ReplyDeleteWould they be Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Nepalese, Cambodian, Burmese, Laotian then, or what ?
"But we would like to reassure the public that there is hardly any crime in Witton Park ... "

If there's "hardly any crime in Witton Park" .. why is it necessary to urge people to be more vigilant ?
Either there's crime in that locale .. or there isn't ..
Or are Blackburn Police covering their arses, just in case ?
In spite of my comments above, because I don't believe they can have it both ways .. and I have no time for this MONA crap ..
ReplyDeleteI was saddened to read of the death of a Traffic Pc on the M1, whilst trying to assist a member of the public ..

There are some fine parks in northern towns, a legacy of the wealth created by the textile industry. They're typically close to town centres in areas that are increasingly predominantly Asian. Despite the police's desperate reassurances about "low levels of crime", these glorious open spaces are seen increasingly as no-go areas by the white population. Muggings are common, with the perception of perpetrators disproportionately Asian and victims white. It's hard not to conclude there is at least some racial motivation in these crimes.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the police have commissioned surveys showing the attitude of the white population and are aware of the "community tensions" created. They issue the same sort of press release after every incident - always seeking to minimise the significance of the crime.
Victim disabled, that allows the police to act at least.
ReplyDeleteIf he had been white and able bodied he would presumably have been charged with bruising the invader's fists with his face and damaging their boots with his skull.
I'm with Nan Taylor.

Me too, that was a tragic incident.
"I suspect the police have commissioned surveys showing the attitude of the white population and are aware of the "community tensions" created. "
But instead of doing something about the criminals...
"I'm with Nan Taylor."
Seconded!
