There are charities out there that still deserve the name. That still do a good job, and hold to the principles of their founders. Charities like the RNLI, the Poppy Appeal, Help For Heroes, Mercy Ships.
I always think the Lifeboats is one charity that I need to support because I am the last person ever who would dare go out and rescue someone in weather like that. I am so grateful someone else is willing to do that.
Really? Not in the usual definition of the word, surely? XX

Why? Because "Daddy was an associate member, he (and his family) was entitled to "charity" from the poppy fund. Even though neither "Father" nor son had even been in the bloody army CADETS, never mind the ARMY (Navy/Air Force)

NOW tell me that something is not dodgy there.
I've never understood the why the RNLI is still a charity.
ReplyDeleteAll boat owners should pay a compulsory levy for it - after all it's basically just the sea-going version of the AA or RAC.
