If You Build It, They Will Come....In 2015

An average of just 10 motorists a day are using a £1.3m car park built near Bristol, a council has admitted.
What? How can this be? Surely motorists are fighting for spaces to park?
The facility, intended as a park-and-ride, opened in June 2011 but will not get a bus service until 2015.
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....

*pauses for breath*

...ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Liberal Democrat councillor Pat Hockey said the car park had made the council "look stupid".
Coming from a LibDem, oh, how that must sting!

In the interests of balance, Mark Wadsworth has a different take on this.

  1. Proof, as if any more was needed, of local councils' yearning to take more money to waste more money…

  2. What I don't understand is why it can't have a bus service now? If its a 5 min walk from Bristol Parkway, there's loads of buses that stop there, its a major rail station. So why don't one of the bus companies divert their route via the park and ride? Might be a good bit of business for them.

Or is it the case the council won't actually let anyone do that, for some typically bureaucratic reason?

I thought this was going to be about Call-me-Dave's plans to concrete over the south of England.

I trust that when the buses do eventually come, two will come at once....
