Detective Sergeant Paul Schofield, of Harrogate CID, said: "The shop is on a busy road in a residential area and we expect a number of people to have been around at the time of the robbery.
I would like anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or saw a man matching the suspect's description to contact the police a soon as possible."OK.
Was he tall, short, fat, thin? Was he white, brown, or black? What was his hair colour? Or...maybe he was bald?
Police searched the area around the One Stop Community Stores on Devonshire Place in Harrogate and issued an urgent witness appeal. The raider was wearing a white or grey hoodie with grey or white tracksuit bottoms.Wait. That's it? His clothes?
And....what if they aren't the only ones he's got, Sherlock?
Police are hunting for a masked man . .

Only the real Paul Scofield could carry that off with a straight face. "If you saw the crime, and are perusing this fishwrap, please call and quote a ten-digit crime code, rather than assault your wife and children and her children as well or buy scratchcards or whatever people do in Harrogate for fun".
