“But….But I Don’t Understand! We Have A Gun Ban!”

A 34-year-old man was shot in Fontaine Court in Southgate at approximately 7.20pm yesterday and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Enfield Independent understands the victim was Turkish, from Tottenham, although this remains unconfirmed.
Well, well, well

Naturally, this is a totally mystifying event, for some:
Councillor Henry Lamprecht, who leads Southgate Green, said: “There has been a quantum leap from people knifing each other to shooting each other now, and this by all accounts is just an execution on the streets, it’s just frightening.
“We need to nip this in the bud - we need to find out where these guns are coming from. It’s a leap that is taking place from people walking with knives that are easily obtainable to guns that shouldn’t be easily obtainable. “
I guess criminals don’t obey laws. Still, never mind.

We destroyed our pistol shooting industry and needlessly inconvenienced future sportsmen and women, so, there’s that…
Cllr Lamprecht said the shooting, in a built up area, could have led to more fatalities. The Conservative politician said: “It is entirely possible that these bullets could have gone astray and killed more people. If they can get guns so easily what is preventing a massive tragedy from happening?“
The fact that they’re only interested in killing each other? So far, anyway.

Meanwhile, in Croydon:
Rival gangs have been battling for control of Croydon’s London Road, leaving residents and shopkeepers terrified. Two incidents within a week of each other last month left several men with serious injuries after clashes between rival Tamil gangs.
Now, why do these gangs act with such impunity?
A restaurant worker who was also too scared to be identified in fear of reprisal attacks, said: “These people do not care about the police.
In my country they would run as fast as they can from the police but here they just laugh at them.”
Hmmm...

  1. I'm surprised Cllr Lamprecht didn't say a bullet could have hit a child. Missed a trick there.

I guess he will have to call for guns to be banned again, now.

  2. Ummmmm...I....errrrrrr......still, look on the bright side, if you're a lawyer or an retired judge it looks like there's another inquiry coming your way...big bucks...into undercover police.

Why now I hear people ask, why are these police 'whistle-blowing'? Perhaps they don't want to get hung out to dry by the 'current generation of police leaders....who will have to answer for the actions of their predecessors' or lose thier pensions and futures whilst lawyers make hay.

What a fucking state the whole thing is in.

  3. "Cllr Lamprecht said the shooting, in a built up area,......". Isn't that a separate, more heinous, offence?

  4. In my country they would run as fast as they can from the police but here they just laugh at them.....that is because in your country the police are armed with more than a metal stick and a can of condiment. They would get shot in your country, but here our bleeding heart liberals abhor the thought of criminals getting hurt. Much better for the innocent bystanders and public to get hurt. Bah Humbug

  5. A point regarding the Tamils. They are extremely well organised and have the capacity to get large numbers of people on the streets at short notice - anyone remember the 'hunger strike' in Parliament Square a few years ago? The fact that not a few of the Sri Lankans have relatives back in Sri Lanka does act as an incentive for them to protest when they might want a quiet life, i.e. 'you'd like to attend our protest wouldn't you? You wouldn't want anything happening to your mum and dad back home?'. I suspect that this is a carrying on of feuds from Sri Lanka and the civil war/late unpleasantness or whatever we wish to call it. I've dealt with Sri Lankan criminality and it erupts when and where you least suspect it (hint - if you take bookings for playing fields and the words 'Sri Lankan Cricket Tournament' are mentioned tread very carefully, likewise Tamil Film Festivals) I was on a course with some Canadian cops and they had not a few stories to tell about Sri Lankan criminality - for Canadians they got quite excited. Of course they laugh at the police over here - as Swanseajock said a tin of mild irritant and an aluminium tickling stick aren't much of a deterrent but that is the system that has evolved over here, like it or lump it.
As regards to Southgate I suspect 'civilians' not involved in the feud are reasonably safe. Some time ago there was an incident where one of these people was stopped by (unarmed) police, all he said was 'you might be interested in this', and handed over his handgun. He was a footsoldier and they were told not to aggravate/wind up police. This was a good few years ago and as these people push the boundaries they will realise that they can get away with more in the UK than they would back home or on mainland Europe. Anyhow, more fun and games for all are guaranteed.

  6. I'm sure someone could make a case for making guns more-easily available, just so that the 'baddies' can eradicate themselves. At minimal cost to the Taxpayer.

  7. The ban only ever applied to legal handguns. The ones law-abiding people could buy at a gun shop with all the proper paperwork, the correct secure storage facilities etc.

The criminals never did get their guns that way so the ban had no effect on them at all.

    *chuckles*

"...still, look on the bright side, if you're a lawyer or an retired judge it looks like there's another inquiry coming your way...big bucks...into undercover police."

Oh, indeed! Can't see why - they are doing exactly what we want them to do, aren't they?

"Much better for the innocent bystanders and public to get hurt."

Much better, and with no career-halting consequences.

"...it erupts when and where you least suspect it (hint - if you take bookings for playing fields and the words 'Sri Lankan Cricket Tournament' are mentioned tread very carefully, likewise Tamil Film Festivals)..."

    Oo-er!

We'd have to spring for shooting lessons too. They are notoriously poor shots.

"The criminals never did get their guns that way so the ban had no effect on them at all."

No bans ever do. The clue is in the term criminal. When are our elected representatives going to realise that?
