Oh, Where Have We Heard This Before?

A rally organised by the English Volunteer Force was held in Victoria Plaza, near the Waves swimming pool on Saturday.
At the same time, an anti-racism demonstration by community leaders and the Blackburn with Darwen United Against Racism group was held in Whalley Range.
Council leader Kate Hollern said she wished the authority could charge the EVL group for the costs.
Pardon? There’s two here, merrily tangoing away, isn’t there?

Why should the counter-demo not be responsible for half those costs? Given they are usually responsible for all of the violence...
“I am challenging policy on what we can and cannot restrict.
“One hundred and fifty thousand pounds is five officers for a year and given the announcement from the police about more cuts last week, it is not fair.
“Everyone has the right to protest providing they have a legitimate objective but for people who come from out of town to use smokescreens to try to disrupt our community is wrong and we won’t tolerate it.”
Ah. There you go – your right to protest is conditional, as far as Cllr Hollern is concerned. I wonder who she believes will determine legitimacy of objective in her future paradise?

Another of those, you can only protest as long as we approve of the protest. So as long as you want to protest about government 'cuts' or against racism your fine. If the group is considered bad and naughty you will have to pay. God I remember when England was a democracy.

If the EVF are anything like the UVF start checking under your car love.

Indeed there are, but one is acceptable, and t'other obviously isn't - to Cllr 'Ollern any road up, tha knows?

I'm sure she takes this position because those nasty, aggressive EVL types must have bussed in extra bodies to make the numbers, which the other side would, of course, never even contemplate :0/

Quickly followed by Swastikas adorning the Town Hall.

    Luckily for her, they aren't.

History tells us they often wind up in front of them...
