David Lammy – Never Shying Away From The Tough Issues…

Labour’s David Lammy undertook research which found 27 out of the 73 constituencies in London had no cinema.
The MP for Tottenham said many of the areas affected were among the least affluent, adding: “It’s as if poor people have been written out of the script when it comes to cinema in London.
“It’s unacceptable that there are still so many constituencies across the capital where people are expected to travel into the centre to access cinema.”
Oh, the humanity!
Constituencies in Ealing, Brent, Tottenham, Wathamstow (sic), Dagenham, Lewisham, Tooting and Mitcham were among those with no cinema.
Dagenham..? Dagenham has no cinema? Well, what on earth is this then?

I really hope you don’t pick ‘London cinemas’ as your next ‘Mastermind’ subject, David…

  1. Well I think he has a point, do you realise there isn't a large screen multiplex on my street either?

OK, I haven't visited the cinema in about 15 years and will probably never go again, but I like the idea of one being here in case I ever change my mind...

  3. Its what they have reduced 'themselves' to since joining the EU and giving all those powers, which are not theirs, away.

  5. The Vue looks quite posh...as long as you don't mind the needles, stabbings, and your car being torched or stolen.

Oh, and enrichment people shooting at the screen...cf Chris Rock.

  6. Piffle. They're not being expected to travel into the centre, just (conceivably) to the next borough. i.e. not far, just a few stops on the tube or bus and all part of the fun.

Oh, and I love that expression 'enrichment people'. Must remember to use it frequently.

A hope as vain as the man himself, Julia.

Blair's promotion of Lammy is probably the most outstanding proof of positive discrimination lunacy.

  9. A contact of mine who knows the area said that Blair overrode the desires of the local party to put in Bernie Grant's widow (who was white)who may have made a good constituency MP and foisted on them the appalling and ignorant David Lamy. He is proof that tokenisic promotion doesn't give the best results. The Labour establishment saw David Lamy's skin colour and acted accordingly, instead of finding out if he was an empty headed fool or not.

Because of Labour's patronising racism the people of Tottenham have been landed with a complete political moron.

    Me neither!

"That cinema is in the constituency of Barking. "

They seem not to think so as 'Dagenham' is plastered all over their web

Perhaps cinema density is inversely correlated with market penetration of taxpayer-funded 79 inch plasma screens?
