The road connecting Junction 30 with the A13 in Thurrock, Essex, was closed for a number of hours while two horses were herded off the motorway.
One of the animals became loose again while police tried to find its owners and was then shot by firearms officers.Excellent work! And hopefully, performed a lot more competently than your northern colleagues managed.
If the SOP was to turn up and shoot them every time, their owners might soon get the message. And it'd save you having to boast about the powers you've got, only to be outwitted and embarrassed when political correctness stops you from using them...
I would be behind you 100% but after watching two old ramblers opening a cage and then failing to close it and just wandering off on their selfish way so a cow nearly escaped. I think that this is a cure for irresponsible owners there are others impacted.

Lord T: when does the traveller season open? In days gone by preference was for hanging them. My preference is for beaters going through illegal encampments to flush them out then confiscating everything with wheels to defray expenses.
