Generation Snowflake Faces Adversity

Rather than spending the afternoon studying, students at University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) enjoyed a break from their exams as they got close with guide dogs from the town’s Mobility Team and help raise money for the charity.
The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association brought the puppies and adult dogs to Guildhall, UCS’s learning and research base.
The visit also helped raise funds for the charity and was part of the Stress Less campaign for students which has been running during the exam period.
Jeez. It's not like they are being asked to go over the top at the Somme, is it?
“Sitting exams can be a tough time so we’ve organised a series of activities to help to reduce stress levels including yoga sessions and things like having fresh fruit in the common room to keep healthy.
“The cuddle a puppy activity has proved extremely popular – there are lots of dog lovers here. It’s also given us a chance to raise some money for Guide Dogs and learn more about the charity.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to the Shrewsbury Mobility Team from the Association for bringing Farley, Leyland, Quilla and Krista to meet us today.”
They have a big wake-up call awaiting them when they start work. Their first induction day promises to be something to behold:

"So, here's the tea point, the stationery cupboard and..."

"Wait, where the cuddle room?"

"The...the what?!"

"You know, with the puppies. For when we start feeling stressed?"

"Yeeees. Right. OK, let me have a word with the HR Department..."

  3. ...Farley, Leyland, Quilla and Krista ...

I only read the story to find out if these were the names of the students, their lecturers or the dogs. One is never sure these days.

  4. I note that the new generation are determined to make the world a cosy stress free place where only PC and victim hood is allowed. Progressives, minority groups and feminists welcome. No religions other than Islam and socialism will be worshipped. Excellence, ambition and success are sins. I wait with bated breath to see how it turns out. Not well me thinks.

  5. I find stories like this strangely reassuring, because as I near 50 years old, I am becoming more relaxed that I can ever be replaced by one of these little petals before I am ready to retire.

I certainly don't need to cuddle a fugging puppy to get through a tough day...

  6. I suspect that by the time this lot graduate some businesses will have stress management in place. The snowflakes will be in charge one day.

I am a bit late on this one, but no I don't think the snowflakes will be in charge. The snowflakes are doing arts courses, they do not have the lecture time of say an engineering student, while low lecture courses such as law and architecture have either a lot of reading or practical work to do.

Generation snowflake is off to the call-centre for a career, whereas the engineers, architects, STEM lot are expanding their horizons. Snowflakes will get publicity but get left behind. I see it with my cohort from my HND (Building Studies), there aren't many with just the HND as a qualification, degrees, masters and professional qualifications have been added. The lot who did the BA seem to stick at BA and struggled to find graduate level employment.

Generation snowflake are the whinging BA mob with publicity, there are graduate jobs out there, there are more graduates than ever and the STEM graduates in most cases get first pick.

Oh dear what a pity how sad never mind.

    LOL!

"... I am becoming more relaxed that I can ever be replaced by one of these little petals before I am ready to retire."

It does make you wonder why employers are reluctant, doesn't it?

"...and the STEM graduates in most cases get first pick."

    Let's hope so!
