A north London court was locked down by police this afternoon after two gangs of youths started brawling at the entrance.
One witness said dozens of officers were called in to deal with the chaos at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court at around 1.20pm when the youths started punching one another and hurling items of furniture.
Wow! The authorities won't stand for such obvious disrespect for the majesty of the law, will they? You're in trouble now, lads!
A spokesman for the Met Police described the incident as a “minor disturbance” and said no one was injured or arrested.

Got to keep some cells free for people who say rude things on Twitter, be fair.
ReplyDeleteWhat has happened to zero tolerance policing? Never widely used but where it was crime dropped dramatically. I believe New York today benefits from it's use even if it is no longer in operation by it being introduced by one of it's mayors. The PC, apologists and appeasers crowd of course will not have any of it. It was fortuitous that they were not in charge at the start of WWII and during the cold war. They are in charge now and that is why we have ISIS, why armed conflicts we engage in rarely end satisfactorily, dangerous immigrants in our society, a laughable deal with Iran, yobs and gangs on our streets and no discipline in our schools.
ReplyDeleteCompassion, being humane and protecting human rights are very admirable human endeavours but only if they are directed towards those who deserve it. It should not even be contemplated for those who do not respect person or property as the unintended consequence is that harms the deserving by reducing their protection from harm and not recompensing them sufficiently for any harm already suffered. Besides a transgressor of societal laws and laws of decency needs to be punished in a way that discourages further transgressions and others from transgressing.
Oh, you just don't get it, JuliaM!
ReplyDeleteSubject to certain conditions, plod are ever ready for law enforcement. For example, they will shoot a defenceless and innocent blind man in the back...with provisos of vulnerability and that both he and the stick are distinctly white.
"Minor disturbance" or "disturbing minority"?
ReplyDeleteIf the fight took place inside the court (a Crown building), the offences would include contempt of court. A day in the court cells for that, while a decision is made regarding other charges, worked in my force. Each person was told they had to apologise to the court or else be charged with affray. They apologised.

Apologies for being slightly off topic - "Two police officers are under criminal investigation over the Taser death of former Premier League footballer Dalian Atkinson."
ReplyDeleteIt's impressive to see anti-riot action, I mean Justice, swing into action...irrespective of the standard and predictable outcome.
Are you waiting for Huddersfield to go up in flames Melvin so you can help yourself to a new lawnmower?

ReplyDeleteGood point!
"What has happened to zero tolerance policing? Never widely used but where it was crime dropped dramatically. "
Two words: identity politics.
""Minor disturbance" or "disturbing minority"?"
:D
"A day in the court cells for that, while a decision is made regarding other charges, worked in my force."
Yup. They CAN learn. If taught hard enough.
"Apologies for being slightly off topic..."
Are you ever...?
