Having been nearly run down by red-light running cyclists once too often, I think I'd rather have the volcanic eruption....

    You seem to be implying that only cyclists jump red lights. All I can say is that a lot of cyclists must drive cars and vans.

    I'm a cyclist and I also drive cars and vans. I never jump red lights.

    I can count on the fingers of one hand how many vehicles I saw do that last month. If I tried to count cyclists, I'd need a lot more hands...
