'Guardian' Schizophrenia...

"How dare you blame Chinese people for the virus!"

"People are to blame for this, we've ruined everything, oh, woe is us!"

C'mon, they can't both be true!

How can you not be to blame for eating everything that can't crawl or slither away fast enough, despite the evident health risks?

  1. Of course, K Brownell (or at least the headline sub - I'm not bothering to read the actual rant/article) is lying about what DT actually said.

I mean, I know everybody is allowed to do this because Orange Man Bad after all but it sometimes seems necessary to point it out when seen in the wild.

  2. Betteridge of the day:
"Is our destruction of nature responsible for Covid 19?"
    No!

  3. Viruses are essential to life on the planet and how they work in ecosystems is the subject of both economic exploitation and military manipulation...around the globe. Most of this secret work would not be understood by the ordinary citizen if they had access to it. But the public is more easily led to the Frankenstein Castle, bearing pitchforks and flaming torches.

  4. One of my favourite quotations:

"if it has got four legs and it is not a chair,
if it has got two wings and flies but is not an aeroplane
and if it swims and it is not a submarine,
the Cantonese will eat it “

  5. There's a clip on You Tube where he trolls a reporter into using the term Kung Flu repeatedly as he goads her into admitting that she does not know which White House official actually used the term. If, indeed, they did. He runs rings around these people and doesn't even break into a sweat.

  6. I believe that the comedian Jasper Carrot back in the late 70's early 80's cracked a joke about the Chinese diet. He said: 'The Chinese will eat anything with legs, even sweet and sour radiogram if you let them'. (For younger readers a radiogram was a large piece of furniture that had inside it a record player and a four band radio)

  7. If it's back faces the sun, it's edible to the Chinese. It's believed this acceptance began during Mao's 'benevolent' regime when millions of Chinese starved or faced starvation through his political policies.

  8. China is densely populated, with people living in close, you might say intimate, proximity to many species of animal. The food markets are filthy, insanitary hellholes, selling anything that moves irrespective of the potential parasites carried or suitability for human consumption. Even in major urban centres supermarkets are squalid beyond belief. Hygiene, like quality control, is an alien concept. Factor in the use of human excrement as fertiliser and it's not hyperbolic to characterise the country as a giant Petri dish.

I'm up for nuking the wretched place. The Other Half said "But they've got nukes too" but odds are theirs are as moody as everything else they produce.

And I'm no expert, but this sort of thing probably doesn't help.

  9. Are we as a world going to put pressure on China to make sure this type of thing doesn't happen again? I think it's important to do so.

Oh, I tend to assume that anytime I see this sort of headline...

"Viruses are essential to life on the planet..."

This one seems rather opportune, for a certain mindset, anyway...

"He runs rings around these people and doesn't even break into a sweat."

It is a bit like shooting fish in a barrel, isn't it?

"I'm up for nuking the wretched place. The Other Half said "But they've got nukes too" but odds are theirs are as moody as everything else they produce."

But who will provide us with plastic cheap electronics then?

"Are we as a world going to put pressure on China to make sure this type of thing doesn't happen again?"

    I suspect the answer's 'No'.
