Abandon All Logic, Ye Who Enter Here!

Another day, another mask u-turn?
The Health Secretary said last week: 'You do need to wear a face mask in Pret because Pret is a shop. If there's table service, it is not necessary to have a mask.
But in any shop, you do need a mask. So, if you're going up to the counter in Pret to buy takeaway that is a shop.'
The longer you spend in the shop, the less you need to wear a mask? Is it me, or....has he got that the wrong way round?

I mean, seriously, if anyone knows what the possible medical or scientific reasoning behind this is, then please, do enlighten me!
But the Prime Minister's official spokesman later said: 'We will be publishing the full guidance shortly but my understanding is that it wouldn't be mandatory if you went in, for example, to a sandwich shop in order to get a takeaway to wear a face covering.
'It is mandatory ... we are talking about supermarkets and other shops rather than food shops.'
They really are just making it all up as they go along, aren't they?

  1. There is no logic in all this. The govt do seem to be making this up as they go along. We even have police forces who are refusing to turn out to back up the 'Karens' who complain about unmasked Britons. I see this ending really badly especially if what I suspect will happen is that the police will police this mask bullshit unevenly with some communal groups known for violence and aggression being left alone whilst the police go after the low hanging fruit of little old ladies out buying cat food.

  2. Morons and plod will be confused. Folk who understand the term 'shopping' will quickly grasp what is required.

  3. An additional complication is that Bad Orange Man says that we should wear masks. For a significant proportion of the population that means that we shouldn't.

  4. Just a thought, maybe someone can clarify it for me. If masks are so good why were they not used instead of a lockdown?

  5. @ F211

Only those returning from a long absence abroad would doubt Mr Plod's readiness to fill his bonnet and apron with low hanging, soft fruit. All subject to risk assessments of no particular description, of course.

  6. Anon 12:32 I suspect that there will be a marked and sharp difference to how these pointless and stupid mask rules will be enforced by the police in Islamic or other heavily 'enriched' areas when compared to areas that do not share this characteristic.

    Indeed they do...

"For a significant proportion of the population that means that we shouldn't."

    Not in my local area!

"...I suspect that there will be a marked and sharp difference to how these pointless and stupid mask rules will be enforced by the police in Islamic or other heavily 'enriched' areas..."

It appears they don't want the job in ANY areas! And who can blame them?

  8. Where I live (not saying where) the local Plod do not do anything about the non-masked persons. Had a Karen in the shop recently screeching about someone being maskless. She called 999, was told to call 101. Did so and was given a report number and thanked for her report *click*. She went ballistic and walked out, bitching at the top of her voice! It was so funny!
