Yes, I Laughed...

...I defy anyone not to do the same!

  1. Why is the word serious in scare quotes? Was the injury serious or not?

  2. Yup. I smirked: mind you, I also did some 50 years ago when the radio announced "A man was shot in the Lower Falls".

Painful, thought I (irreverently and probably inhumanely).

  3. My great-uncle Percy had a stuffed bear in his living room. It had chased him, he had climbed a tree to get away, but when it started climbing he had to shoot it in self-defence.

He would always tell people he shot it 'in the Indian Provinces'.

  4. And, of course, it's always good advice for a gentleman to avoid getting into a fight when on holday in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, or Formentera.

Because it's not nice to get kicked in the Balearics.

  5. Once, in Helsinki with a mate, we were on the streets after 10pm and therefore suspicious; we were picked up by the Finns. Luckily not swung round by the Swedes.

I see this a lot, usually when they've been unable to get a statement from an official source and are relying on social media or eyewitness reports.

"...I also did some 50 years ago when the radio announced "A man was shot in the Lower Falls"."

    🤣

"...he had climbed a tree to get away, but when it started climbing he had to shoot it in self-defence."

Rookie mistake with a black bear!

"Because it's not nice to get kicked in the Balearics."

    👏

"...we were picked up by the Finns. Luckily not swung round by the Swedes."

    LOL!
