Gosh, it'd take a heart of stone, wouldn't it?
The awards system has maintained its usual artist categories, with prizes for British solo male and British solo female. That means there is no room for Smith, who uses they and them as their pronouns since coming out as non-binary in September 2019.

Plenty of opportunities for new awards:
ReplyDeleteBiggest hairy feet to fit into a pair of stilettos ? best makeup plastered over a five o clock shadow maybe ?
If Sam Smith has won any awards in the past it suggests that the judges all have cloth ears. I mean, have you heard them sing?
ReplyDeleteStoneyground, please use the grammatically and medically correct pronoun;
ReplyDelete“...have you heard IT sing?”
I don't want to hear them sing, SG.
ReplyDeleteI drew the line at Danny La Rue and Hinge and Bracket (by the way I still ponder on the fact you never saw Hinge and Bracket and Cherie Blair in the same room).
ReplyDeleteI also note Oprah bears more than a passing resmblance to what footballist Ian Wright might look like in drag....
BTW my suspicions upon the latter were intitially aroused upon observing a picture of Mrs Oprah Winfrey during the NutMeg and Harry interview and immediately recalling that I had never seen Mrs Winfrey and footballist Ian Wright in the same Arsenal dressing room or team bath at the same time, with or without a black curly wig.
ReplyDeleteThere will defo be a non-binary category next year and maybe a hundred other made up genders. Music awards are that woke, normally...
ReplyDeleteHe could have entered for Best Beer with SS initials.
ReplyDeleteAlways get a good head.
Always thought that any woman who calls herself an actor should be automatically excluded from Best Actress/Supporting Actress awards at the Oscars etc - see how many continue with that nonsense?

ReplyDeleteThe 'Bond' theme eventually grew on me. A bit.
"...I had never seen Mrs Winfrey and footballist Ian Wright in the same Arsenal dressing room or team bath at the same time, with or without a black curly wig."
🤣
"There will defo be a non-binary category next year..."
Sadly I won't be at all surprised!
