Maybe You Won't Have Dick To Kick Around Anymore!

Figures from across the political divide united in criticism, with Tory MPs among those who condemned the Met’s approach as “appalling”. Ed Davey, the Liberal Democrat leader, called on Dick to resign. “This was a complete, abject, tactical and moral failure on the part of the police,” he said in a letter to the commissioner. “We therefore call on you to consider your leadership of the service.”
It would be the greatest of ironies if, despite her ability to cling to her job over the killing of Jean Charles De Menezes and the appalling investigation into so-called 'paedophiles in high places' on the say-so of a proven fantasist, the police actually doing their job was what brought her down...
Caroline Nokes, the Tory chair of the women and equalities committee, said she was “truly shocked at the scenes from Clapham Common – in this country we police by consent, not by trampling the tributes and dragging women to the ground”.

Look love, the concerpt of 'consent' has long since departed - where were you when the cops were hassling women for taking walks in the park during lockdown?

Yet now you're squawking because a bunch of activists and troublemakers (who happen to be women) were told 'No' and decided that. actually, no doesn't mean no after all?

  3. Not surprising that during the so called protest in London yesterday there were more than one "defund the police" placards, so the usual suspects desperate to cause anarchy wherever possible using any excuse

Left wing scum turn up at any protest now to cause trouble. They lost the election and Brexit so they are undermining democracy by force. The ginger bird is already on the TV this morning bleating, she's got her 5 minutes of fame. Google her, it's interesting.

  5. The police wee just enforcing the laws created by politicians so why are politicians upset. They booted the anti lockdown mob and they booted those politicising the death of this young woman. Even handed apart from the BLM fiasco last summer.

  6. I find the whole concept of Ed Davey, leader of the Lib Dems, criticising *anyone* for being a failure positively oozing with irony. Indeed the goblet of irony doth runneth over

  7. The Police are in the situation of damned if they do and damned if they don't.
Had the Police ignored the vigil, everyone would be calling them out for ignoring it.
You cannot have it both ways, either shift protestors on or deal with them.

I know its laughable in this day and age, but what happened to "innocent until proven guilty"
Bloke has only just been charged and this is after days of protest, road blockages and moaning about the police. I would think a decent brief could argue that the adverse publicity has made it impossible for him to get a fair trial.

  9. An interesting poser - if there was a Covid-busting demonstration in support of Cressida Dick, how would the Met Police handle it?

  11. "Not surprising that during the so called protest in London yesterday there were more than one "defund the police" placards..."

Bet there was a few yesterday too!

"...she's got her 5 minutes of fame."

It's likely to be the best performance she's ever given...

"Even handed apart from the BLM fiasco last summer."

    Exactly!

"I know its laughable in this day and age, but what happened to "innocent until proven guilty""

It now only applies to protected victim groups...

  12. Mobster John Gotti was known as the "Teflon Don" because he got away with so many crimes.

It would be wrong, quite wrong, to refer to the Chief Constable of the Met as Cressida "Teflon" Dick. I hope this nickname never catches on.
