It's As Regular As Clockwork...

...cometh the election, cometh the idiot

A Green Party activist has lost part of her finger after a dog chomped down on it while she was posting campaign fliers through the letter box. Danica Priest, who is running to be a councilor in the Filwood area of Bristol, was left in hospital after a dog took the end of her digit off.

*sigh*

Liberal Democrat candidate Caroline Gooch added: 'Sorry to read that. Noone should be maimed using a letterbox.
'If people have bitey dogs they should have a letterbox cage or external letterbox.'

There's another option, of course, but why would a LibDumb ever think of it?

And a third, Tash, continued: 'Oh poor you, wishing you better.
'Old trick, take wooden spoon to push leaflets through/hold letter boxes open.'

Well done, Tash.

Why should Herman (of Herman's Hermits) be maimed at his age?

  3. What about a dog tax? Only available if the owner has insurance? No tax, no insurance, dog impounded and destroyed. Rate of tax a function of breed, size, and amount of shit emitted per day.

  4. She obviously didn't do a paper round when younger. There was one evil little bugger (a dog, not the customer) who would undoubtedly have given me "life changing" injuries, had I not been warned by the newsagent. I used to carefully push the paper just a short way through the letterbox, then step back and wait for it to sprint the length of the hallway, before slamming into the door. I doubt if there was much left of the paper, or anything else that was delivered...

  5. Maybe they should think of using the letterboxes we have here in France - a literal metal box with a flap that is on the outside of the door the postie can unlock to put small parcels in.

  6. In all the years I delivered stuff (newspapers & election leaflets mainly) I can't recall any problems with dogs. The number of letterboxes that I almost lost part of a finger to on the other hand…

    Heh!

"The answer will be a letterbox tax. Taxes are always the Lefties answer to any problem"

    I wouldn't be surprised.

    Don't give them ideas!

They never do, just live of mummy & daddy.

I've seen those on some houses around here, mainly when people have had those fancy designer front doors fitted with all the little glass panels.

Some of the springs on those things must have been modelled on gin traps!
