The Curious Incident Of The WPC In The Machete Attack...

Yes, the jury was somewhat perverse in clearing this savage of attempted murder. But, well, that's juries for you...
Video footage shown to jurors showed Rodwan being aggressive and trying to drive off as the officers spoke to him.
Wait, officers...? Plural?

Why then have we heard only from PC Outten? Why have we only seen footage of PC Outten?
PC Outten and PC Helen Brooks had pulled over Rodwan’s van for being uninsured, and the handyman, from Luton, claimed he got angry because he is “always being stopped” by police.
Hmmm. Aren't we always told how dangerous single-crewing is, by the police union?

But he wasn't alone. So while he was getting his head hacked, what was his colleague doing? She may not have had Taser, but she had an ASP, surely?
Despite still being attacked, PC Outten managed to taser Rodwan before he stumbled and fell to the ground. PC Outten shouted at some bystanders to bring him his radio, which had fallen on the floor close to the van during the struggle.
Why did he need to shout to members of the public? What was PC Helen Brook doing?

If she gave evidence, I can't find it in any newspaper report...

Gregory: The policewoman did nothing in the night-time.
Holmes: That was the curious incident.

  2. The only things we know for certain:- Plod are cowards, prolific liars and are inclined to use excessive force for no good reason.

  3. Diversity box-ticking?

Perhaps a WPC who was merely "window dressing" and unable, unwilling or terrified of involvement, so actually worse than useless and a danger to her colleague?

This needs explanation, instead of what seems to be a cover-up.

  4. You can bet your bottom dollar had she done anything to help her colleague she would be being lauded to the skies as an example of the wonders of female police officers, so the silence is rather telling.

  5. Surely she was busy "kicking the asses" of several seven foot square, hardened thugs - as seen in just about every major motion picture these days, however untrained and petite the woman happens to be.

  7. PC Brooks does get a teensy weensy bit more of a mention in this report:

but it is probably pretty significant that she fades from the story round about the time of the attack. It was members of the public that got Outten's radio, it was the wounded Outten that called for assistance (Brooks not passed out on radios?), it was the public that gave Outten first aid.

  8. Yes there is an elephant in the room with his colleagues actions. Even our internal internet makes no mention of her. Rumour has it that she completely froze. If true I hope she's not front line now.

  9. "I hope she's not front line now."

That won't be a problem, Jaded. The 'front line' continues to supply the already bloated ranks of fatties and cowards, occupying the warm offices of the Social Media beat. What the heck...there is always room for more of the same alongside yourself. A self-regulating public service which cripples the economy by pouring £billions of taxpayers' money down the relocation and compensation abyss, accounts to nobody.

  10. Thanks for your input Melvin. Always interesting and balanced.

  11. Your thanks and presumably, your approval are noted, Jaded. I must confess to having sneered at your own comments...well, those I was inclined to decipher.

The opportunity now arises to ask you to explain 'fuckin twat'(sic)...a once common feature of your comments.

  12. If I ever swore at you Melvin I would spell it correctly. But I have feeling it's one of your consistent lies like "educatid " and "wpc". You do realise that repeating a lie over and over again does not make it the truth?

  13. I have no personal knowledge of living folk who trust Plod. The latter are all practised liars and I can almost hear WC Jaded's practised protest from the witness box, that 'their' is not a word of truth in the defendant's version of 'there' encounter.

  14. It's reasonable to have a few women in the force to do appropriate duties (and be appropriately paid) but they are a menace on the streets.

  15. As far as I can tell PC Brooks acted in a reasonable manner. Her BWV certainly shows that she was involved and didn't completely freeze. Given the nature of the attack and the restrictions that the van imposed in the beginning, I couldn't really see what more she could've done at that point at least.

It could be argued that at the point the individual was out of the van that she wasn't in close enough proximity to be effective in assisting in subduing him and possibly that had she been a 6' 2", 18 stone bloke she could've used brute force to subdue but I would argue that none of us knows how we'd act in this scenario.

Others could argue we expect a greater level of bravery from our police force. It's a tough one.

That would be my assessment too, for the reason that Sobers outlines.

"Surely she was busy "kicking the asses" of several seven foot square, hardened thugs - as seen in just about every major motion picture these days..."

    Heh!

"PC Brooks does get a teensy weensy bit more of a mention in this report..."

She must, surely, appear in the video? But all that I've seen appear to have mysteriously edited her out...

"Even our internal internet makes no mention of her. Rumour has it that she completely froze. "

    Ouch! That's telling.

"Given the nature of the attack and the restrictions that the van imposed in the beginning, I couldn't really see what more she could've done at that point at least."

She could have assisted to the point she was seen in the video. Radioed for help so her injured colleague didn't need to. Given first aid so the public didn't need to.
