Is It The Rutting Season At The Beeb?

First, it was 'DJs gone wild'. Now, it's the turn of BBC presenters.

BBC historian:
A renowned social historian fractured his best friend’s eye socket after finding him in bed with the mother of his child.
And what sort of historian was he?
The slavery expert’s barrister, David Williams, told the court Westgaph had reacted after discovering Mr Blanche, who he considered to be his ‘closest confidante’, in his partner’s bedroom.
Ooops! Obvioualy not as close a confidante as he was to some...

And it gets better:
During the hearing, it emerged Westgaph has a previous conviction from 2000 for having sex with an underage girl.

Westgaph was 24 when he slept with the 15-year-old after meeting her in a Liverpool club.

But Mr Williams told the court Westgaph was only given a community order after the judge accepted the girl had given ‘every impression’ of being older.

He told the judge: ‘An immediate custodial sentence would have devastating consequences for this man’s career.’
I wonder how a conviction for grievious bodily harm will go down with his bosses?

Meanwhile:
A BBC television presenter who left a teenager scarred for life after attacking him with a 3ft wooden pole is facing jail.

Former Watchdog and Holiday reporter Ashley Blake admitted his career was in ruins after he tried to cover up the confrontation at a bar he owned.
What do they put in the water at the Beeb canteen?

  1. Hmmm...
What is it about Westgaph that makes him a 'slavery expert' ?
His skin tone and Anglo sounding name probably convinced the Beeb that he is descended from the populations carted off to the New World by the wicked 'ice people'.
However he left a comment on a Liverpool website a couple of years ago where he described his origins thus-
'As regards my name you are sorely mistaken, as someone of Nigerian descent I have more than one name, this is a traditional practice. For your information they are Laurence, Ademola and Bilal, Bilal is a muslim name and I am very proud to have such a name. I have never changed my name and on all my legal documents my first name has always been Laurence so to say I changed my name, then changed it back to take advantage of work opportunities a couple of years ago is pure and utter fabrication. Just to further clarify the point as I am self employed what work appointments were you referring to that nose-dived? Where did you get such erroneous information? Who are you? I will be reporting your last entry for its spurious content, but if you do intend to write my biography please get your facts right.'

Two things spring to mind on reading this-
    1. He's a nasty piece of work
    2. I think it's about time Westgaph had an 'Ekow Eshun' moment, and realised his paternal forbears may have been active participants in selling their countrymen to the 'ice people'. They certainly weren't victims !

I hope the judge isn't taken in by the guilty plea, and that he gets a custodial sentence- and plenty of time to reflect on his crimes.

  2. Good find.

"Two things spring to mind on reading this-

And a rabid self-publicist and narcissist, like so many of the 'meejah' types.
