East Sussex Coroner Michael Spencer has adjourned the hearing and will decide at a later date on whether to hold a full inquest. Following the incident PC Smith was charged with two counts of actual bodily harm while PC Comotto was charged with one count. Last year both officers were cleared of charges of assault after a trial at Southwark Crown Court.
