Some Of His Friends Were Prats Too...

Tributes were paid to Mr Simpson today and flowers and messages have been left at the scene.
Friend Anthony Pratt, 29, a welder said: “He was such a lovely guy, always smiling and good to be around. These guys who perform the stunts are amazing and attract huge crowds from miles around. It’s like a family day out.
“They should not have been doing what they [did] but there are no facilities for this kind of thing. He died doing what he loved but it’s a tragedy — our hearts go out to his family.”
Funny. I don't recall any of my childhood 'family days out' being anything like this...

Glowing tributes paid to people from those who we think of as saints and those we would deem sinners have one thing in common. There accuracy is relative. So are pointless and irrelevant unless accompanied by irrefutable evidence to back up the praise lavished. Yet most of us will lap it up and make the appropriate sympathetic noises. No wonder con men and politicians say their is one born every minute as they part us from our wealth by theft. The con man does it by breaking the law the politician does it by using the law.

They're always a smiling example, loved their mum, will be missed for their sparkling personality, aren't they? None of the mates / witnesses / passers-by is ever quoted as saying "he was a knobhead, he was showing off and deserved all he got".

Bunny,

I was doing a track day years ago and there was this bloke pratting about in the paddock pulling wheelies and stoppies on a RD350LC. This was a restored bike, which he had obviously put a lot of money into. How we laughed when he dropped it on the sighting lap.

Which is in accord in a non-fatal way with DCBain above.

Except when the 'comment' function is left open... ;)

How bourgeois! Round here, they wouldn't dream of going to a track for that, when they have the roads and streets..
