‘Enquiries Into What Type Of Animal They Are Are Ongoing…’

Yikes, tough one there, eh, Lancashire plod?

'Aaahh-hoo, werewolves of Preston...'

Well, since you got the dog-handlers out to catch them, could they have been...dogs? I know, I know, it's a tough one, don't strain yourselves.
Sightings have been made in recent days on Station Lane as well as Hollowforth Lane and Eaves Lane with speculation on the 'This Is Broughton' Facebook group that they could be 'coyotes or golden jackals'

Lancashire plod didn't let themselves speculate too much;

"Officers, including our specially trained dog handlers attended, and the three animals have been secured and taken to a safe location. Enquiries into what type of animal they are, are ongoing, and once those enquiries have been conducted, they will be handed over to the relevant authorities.
"We know this might have caused some discussion in the community, so we thought it important to provide you with this update and reassure you that there is not thought to be any risk to the public. Thank you to those who made reports to us or provided us with information or footage this afternoon."

Let's hope there aren't three hairy-palmed hungover Lancastrian lads in the nude in the kennels this morning, since it was Hallowe'en last night!

The Royal We, Amelia?

Shops don’t simply give us what we want – they make us want it.
Speak for yourself! Nothing that has been advertised or stocked in supermarkets made me buy (or want) Hallowe'en tat. This house was free of pumpkin candles and furry spiders and plastic skeletons. And of trick and treaters, thanks mostly - I suspect - to the bad weather. Not that the sweets will go to waste, the tech guys in the office will make short work of them on Friday!

But if you like that, go to it! Why not? Life’s too short to live it according to misanthropes like ‘Guardian’ columnists.

More Of This!

A councillor who decorated his house for Halloween was asked to remove his ghosts and ghouls as they were 'scaring children' and affecting the mental health of passersby.

By one person. One.

Ashan Jeeawon, 42, who works as a property stylist, was told his floating skeleton displays were detrimental to the mental health of the community.
But when he put the decorations up for a public vote, neighbours were overwhelmingly in favour of keeping the house of 'horrors'.

Heh!

Mr Jeeawon, who lives in Bexhill, East Sussex, with his partner, sister, her three kids and his parents, decorates their house for every major holiday including Christmas, Easter, Diwali and Armistice Day.

Good for him!

While he hasn't responded to the email yet, he is determined to keep the decorations.

Excellent! If only more people refused to be cowed by someone claiming to be 'offended', the world would be a much better place.

It's Madness, I Tell You!

The Drawing Board in New Street advertised its Halloween event - Return To The Asylum - on Facebook...
In the online advert, the bar said: “The deranged doctors and nurses have lost control of the mental Asylum AGAIN and all the killers and psychopaths are running free.
"Enter at your own risk.... Don’t forget to have your medicine on arrival!
Well, the snowflakes aren't going to take that lying down!
Amanda Griffiths, from York Mental Health Peer Support Group, said the way the party had been advertised was “ill thought out and irresponsible”.
Amanda said: “We would like business owners in York to be a little more responsible about how they promote the events and how they learn about mental health.
“It’s about recognising that a lot of people who are receiving mental health care and treatment, or suffering from difficulties, might have experienced traumatic life changing events in the past.”
*sighs*

Oh, My! You'd Need A Heart Of Stone, Wouldn't You?

Facebook has rolled out new “spooky” reactions buttons that are meant to get people into the Halloween spirit.
And why not..?
The new reactions replace the old ones – showing a laughing witch, a shocked ghost, a crying Frankenstein’s monster and an angry pumpkin. Usually those are just yellow faces, but they’ve been changed for Halloween.
This is news because..?
The little emoji have been replaced in old posts. That means that when people react to bad news – like a death in the family – then the pictures will change to show an array of monsters beneath the post.
Of particular note is the Frankenstein's monster, which has replaced the crying emoji. Since that's used so much in condolences, announcements of deaths are now full of pictures of a reincarnated dead person.

Have A Truly Terrifying Hallowe’en

A graffiti artist and clothes designer will be offering children the opportunity to celebrate Halloween with a more alternative experience this year.
More ‘diverse’ than an American imported holiday..?
Blingwear UK will be running a “Hip Hop Halloween” event on Tottenham High Road, providing both spooky and street activities for young children.
The event on October 31 will include a rap/poem workshop

Pity About The Other 364 Days Of The Year...

It's that time of year again! The time of year when we copy the US, dress up, eat stuff we'd never dream of eating at any other time of the year (pumpkin soup? Err, no, thanks...) and have spooky fun, while...

But wait! Hold up there! Fun? Oh, no. No, no, no, no...

When there's something strange endearingly cute in your neighbourhood, who ya gonna call? The police, of course!

And it's not just them...

Not to be outdone...

Yes, even the turnip-munchers aren't left out...

Well, this spells trouble for Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood...

Do these scare you? Well MAN THE FUCK UP! They're only kids!

Yes, every police Twitterfeed has gone into overdrive, promising dire retribution and the flames of Hell* to anyone who upsets the gentlefolk of the parish on this one night.

Yeah, yeah. Try calling them tomorrow to report ASB. Let me know how it goes, won't you? But I hope you aren't the ones that get arrested...

*sod all, because the lines will be jammed with idiots like they always are...
