But, say 'community leaders', let's not be too hasty!
Community leader Imtiaz Qadir, of the Active Change Foundation, said: ‘Honour crime happens a lot in our community, especially the Pakistani community, but we do try to educate the people.Way to unequivocally condemn this crime, Imtiaz...
‘It's a cultural thing from back home. But this type of horrible crime is not exclusive just to Muslims, there have been cases in other religions.’

We will see change. It will not be nice because many people will be hurt. It will become a numbers game.
I'd like to see how perpetrators of honour killings, not originally native to the UK, get deported after serving time...
Omerta....
WV extra Read all about it
"we do try to educate people".
Yes, beating the women so that they never even think of doing it!

"And if you give me a sec, I'll name them for you, no hold on, it's on the tip of my tounge, I'll get it in a minute, please wait..... bugger"
Six major religions
Buddhism wouldnt do honour killings
Christians ? but where?
Hindus possible in India
Sikhs possible anywhere
Muslims most commonly 99.9% I would say
Jainism they dont kill anything
Jewish/Zionist etc We'll never know if Mossad do them on behalf of the family concerned.
William Cranston was jailed for 12 years (2x12 years to be served concurrently) for knifing to death both his partner and his friend to death when he found them at it on his boat. Do we think he will serve all that?
It was accepted as manslaughter by reason of provocation. Wiki summarizes English law on the matter.
The law isn't saying that Cranston can invoke rights to go about murdering (sorry, manslaughtering) people, but the legal niceties are going to be lost on most people who will think that if you catch your bird at it, that means you jolly well can give her a thump.
I'd like to see our own judges unequivocally condemning these crimes instead of massaging the penalties down to 3 years a piece by the time parole has kicked in, time on remand to be deducted.
"The law isn't saying that Cranston can invoke rights to go about murdering (sorry, manslaughtering) people, but the legal niceties are going to be lost on most people.."
Wasn't this brought in by dear Harriet, so women who kill abusive husbands in cold blood can get away with the provocation defence even if he was asleep in bed at the time?
*sigh*
Chalk another one up to the law of unintended consequence...
