'I got quite a telling off and I remember him mentioning something about terrorism.'

Yes, they always do fall back on that, don't they?
Mrs Perry said she assured the police officer that she would not do anything to disrupt the relay when it passes through Bridlington later this month.
She should have laughed and hung up.
A spokesman for Humberside Police confirmed that words of advice were offered to a Bridlington woman following comments made about disruption to the Olympic Torch’s progress in advance of its forthcoming visit to the region.
I've got some words of advice for Humberside Police, but as this is a family blog...
Assistant Chief Constable Alan Leaver said: 'We are delighted the torch is coming to the region. Officers from the Yorkshire and Humber region want to make sure that it is a happy event which people can come and enjoy.
'Anyone intent on causing trouble will be dealt with appropriately. We won’t allow people to make a nuisance of themselves.'
Well, two things, Alan old chum. Firstly, shouldn't you look a little closer to home for miscreants?

And secondly, it doesn't seem as if your promise not to allow people to make a nuisance of themselves goes any further than the runandjumpandswimathon, does it?

So how many people are trawling the internet looking for signs of thoughtcrime - and who is paying them?

Ah, but you see your link is to a matter which is not a burning issue. Sorry about that, its the heat.

Sorry Julia I can't see the link between telling someone off (unnecessarily I agree)and getting unfounded corruption allegations.
If you take that to it's logical conclusion then they wouldn't do anything...

Redemption (however temporary for Humberside Police) arrived today in the form of PC Carl Bugg's courageous tackle and safe disarming of a disturbed young woman waving a pistol.

Well done to PC Bugg, who merits an award and permanent relief from any fooling with the surname.

Steady on Jaded, old girl.

There is no cure for idiocy but we can help steer you clear of hypocrisy. Moral folk would never accept a career seeking perfection in others until they had found it in themselves.

When I stumble across a foreign website there is a prompt at the top saying "google translate" and it turns into English.
I have contacted Microsoft and they are now fitting a pop-up called "Melvin translate" for us ordinary blog readers to turn his posts into a language we can all understand.

I note the inference of a commercially viable "Melvin translate", Jaded.
However, investment in a scheme based on the presumption that millions can match your IQ, is a rather wild risk.

Melvin, millions do match my IQ,very few match yours. That's why we need that app.
I've never denied for a second that you are cleverer than me.I just hope that I am not as patronising or as pompous as you with persons of lesser intelligence than me. ( I realise I have left myself wide open with that last line).

Well, it's possible they came across it pro actively, but far, far more likely that someone reported it.

We are becoming a nation of Stazi-in-training.
