My Property, My Rules...

Via Mr Eugenides, a look at the latest attempt at nanny-statism in the government's consultation document on smoking::
"Question 12: Do you believe that more should be done by the Government to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke within private dwellings or in vehicles used primarily for private purposes? If so, what do you think could be done?"
Now, I don't smoke, but should I give a lift to a friend or relative who does, then what business is it of the government that I allow them to smoke in my car? And 'private dwellings'? That's up to the owner to set smoking policy, not Big Nanny!

Maybe this will be the straw that broke the camel's back, and finally forces people to see just what the state has in store for it's citizens chattel...?

I do hope so...

Presumably, this will mean that a small but significant extension to the UK's network of security cameras will be needed, if we are to police this proposal properly?

Of course, householders need not be concerned. Those with nothing to hide have nothing to fear. Cameras in their bedroom will protect them from the risk of setting fire to the bed with a dropped cigarette. And the highest possible Government security will be applied to the recordings...
