They Were Against It Before They Were For It...

A leaked letter shows the police originally expressed serious concerns about locating a drug addict centre in Southend town centre before giving it their support.
Oh, really..?
The Echo has received a copy of the letter by Southend police which states Clarence Road is the wrong place for a treatment clinic and needle exchange service by provider Crime Reduction Initiatives.

It says it will lead to an increase in crime and antisocial behaviour.
It seems a police officer was caught telling the truth. Can't have that!
The first report was circulated to councillors without being signed off by Southend central inspector Matt Bennett. It was then withdrawn and the new response compiled.

He says it was the view of an individual officer and not the police as an organisation.
Says it all, really...

"The first letter says it is in an area where illegal drugs are freely available and where there is “easy opportunity for drug users to illegally fund their addiction by criminal means i.e. shoplifting and robbery”. "

Right, so, of course, the junkies would *never* hang out there, would they now?
(widemouth frogs? Noo, dont' see many of 'em around 'ere....)

If it was a residential area, it would be different, but as goes, it's where they are already, and the main annoyance of this place will be the social workers who preach utter BS to the unconvertable and blow our tax money on expensive useless ventures that don't help anyone at all other than themselves with a cushy job (notice how they never publish their success stats? ...)

The local pharmacy does needle exchange far more efficiently and cheaper, and they also are licensed drug dealers too!

80% of all property crimes are drug related, and as every experiment that handed out medical smack has shown, whilst those junkies stay junkies, their bodies heal up and the vast majority of them get jobs, and even those who don't, at least stop making a nuisance out of themselves.

Indeed.

"...even those who don't, at least stop making a nuisance out of themselves."

I'm not entirely convinced by the legalise drugs campaign, but anything has got to be better tthan the situation we are currently in...
