It's Deja Vu All Over Again!

A Tory government would use instant penalties on teenage yobs instead of relying on Asbos, the party said yesterday.
Oh oh…

Now come on David, you know this....No, the triangle will not fit in the square hole. No, not the round peg. I know it goes in but that's only because it is smaller, darling. No David, hugs come later...

No, not that one.. or that one...

I see you are looking forward to BluLabours rule as much as I am.

If they manage to do for petty street crime what Anne Widdicomb did for cannabis with her '£100 fine and march to a cashpoint' bilge then we can look forward to a bumper growth in muggings, robbery and vandalism!

Yay! Let's here it for blue flavoured authoritarianism - we're bored of red now.

Oh, come now Shaun.

Insta fines are muggings or robbery, but hardly vandalism.

But seriously, if I'm stopped by some prat in the street and he demands cash - how would I know whether it's legitimate?

I wouldn't know what a real ID would look like; how could I spot a fake?

If every body demanded that a policeman attends and verifies the fine's legitimacy, how are they going to manage?

Why didn't the duck feeding woman just walk away refusing to accept any paperwork from the clearly strange person who accosted her in the park?

How would he stop her? Touching her would be assault, he'd have to follow her around for the rest of the day trying to identify her...what fun!

I can't see it being any real difference at the moment, can you?

Worryingly, that seems to be a the case.

"Why didn't the duck feeding woman just walk away refusing to accept any paperwork from the clearly strange person who accosted her in the park?"

Because people don't, in general. They have been conditioned to obey authority, even when that authority isn't really there...
