Remember The Conservative Party...?

...whatever happened to them?

I can't count all the ways this is likely to backfire. Seriously, are there no grownups in charge any more?

Like New Labour, it's all about addressing symptoms rather than causes. Putting plasters on cancer.

Virtually all legislation backfires to a greater or lesser degree. Take the law against drugs, which you wholeheartedly support, like American prohibition in the early part of 20th century it has backfired big time. For all the good it does which debatably it can be said there is none it has fostered a whole lot more of bad. It is responsible for a many folds increase in criminal activities including homicide and the cost of enforcing it is astronomically expensive diverting funds away from addressing other more pressing problems to name just a couple of damaging consequences. All for what? To stop people from self harming which it does not(if they cannot get it by legal means they will turn to illegal means) and it is not harm that people to themselves that laws are about but to stop people harming others.

Nature has already a mechanism for dealing with stupidity it is called evolution incorporating survival of the fittest which given time those bent on self harm will no longer be around for us to worry about. Well that would be the case if it was not for the advances in medical science but then that throws up another moral dilemma my opinion on which you would not like either. Although it appears some medical practitioners are coming around to my way of thinking by denying medical assistance to those who self harm by overeating.

It's illegal for millions to enter Britain without permission but they still do. That's a more likely cause than anything else.

Let's see now. We all have hydrochloric acid (spirits of salt) in our stomachs at quite high concentrations, so that'd make it illegal for anyone to be in a public place. Ya gotta love the way people are so stupid they fail chemistry at school so they become politicians. Ex science teacher.

So no vinegar on your chips for under eighteens and the rest of you have to eat them on the premises.
